P R O L O G U E

Paula is the first born daughter of Saul and Monica Serrano. Her brother Tobias is 2 years older than her, and to him, Perla would always be a little girl. It was due to this that he felt the need to protect her from all that was bad best he could. This meant trying to keep anyone that could seriously break his little sisters heart away.

The light of the family was after all, Perla, and to
her the light was her family and her passion.

To the Serrano Family fútbol was a significant part of their lives. Perla's father, Saul Serrano was a futbol legend, who was admired by many all over the world for his astonishing skill set. He had been all over Europe winning titles and awards. Even for their home country, Mexico, he had been the foundation of La Selección. Her brother, Tobias Serrano, was a renowned Mexican player as well, known more famously for the excellence he had achieved and continues to achieve in Madrid.

Perla's mother, Monica Serrano, wasn't most engulfed in the sport like her husband and her children. Nevertheless, Monica never failed to show up and rep team colors with pride, each and every time.

And as for Perla, noting that the sport was everything to her, she worked extra hard in achieving success. But even with all the work she would put in, time and time again, the fascination that is women's fútbol was seemingly never as celebrated as men's.

Despite that, with Perla's undeniable skill, and of course with the last name she carried ,
catching the attention of some of the biggest women's soccer clubs, including the most important one to her in France, was no problem .

Her life felt like an absolute fairytale, she was at an all time high at the mere age of 23 and she felt nothing could bring her down. She felt good and secure when it came to her life.

Now no one would ever say it her, but Perla knew exactly what people thought of her, seeing her with a different man, in a different part of France every other week. She knew that she was only hooking up with most of them, and she was well aware of all the internal and external dangers, but she did worry. Perla made sure to not get to caught up in one person, especially since had no time for a relationship. With the busy schedule she carried it was never difficult.

Contrary to much of the publics
beliefs, Perla was happy with the life she lived.  She had everything she could ever want... so she thought.
