"Shin Yuna! Shin Yuna!" The voice of my best friend echoed through the school's halls.
"Oh, Ryujin unnie!" I responded as my best friend was pacing towards me. She hugged me tightly once she reached me.
"I have the most amazing news to tell you!" She started as we were walking for our first class.
"What is it?" I asked with a smile.
"Me and Beomgyu are officially together!" She squeaked happily as she took my hands into her own, stopping me from walking.
"Can you imagine, after we finish high school, we'll go to college together! Then we'll get married and have kids and so many pets!" Her eyes were sparkling with pure joy.
"Oh, Ryujin unnie..." I smiled as I patted her head gently. "You love to dream, don't you?"
She smiled absently as we continued walking to class.
When I opened the door, the most blood curdling scream reached our ears, startling me and awaking Ryujin from her daydreams.
We both got in, only to see red paint splattered in the middle of the room.
"What happened?" I asked one of our classmates.
"Yeonjun spilled red paint all over Yeji's new painting, which took her over 4 days to complete. Poor girl." He replied instantly.
As I was looking through the crowd of people, I noticed Yeji curled down on the floor, red paint all over her pants and hands.
Yeonjun was in front of her, mumbling all sorts of excuses.
"Yah! I get that you didn't mean to spill the paint, but you could at least make up better excuses!" I found myself saying out of nowhere.
Everyone turned to look at me, including Yeonjun and a shocked Yeji.
"You should at least help her clean up! The teacher will make his appearance soon, and we all know that he hates messes!" I continued, spitting all of those words without thinking beforehand.
Yeji rose up on her own, wiping the tears off her cheeks. "It's alright, Yuna." She smiled weakly.
"No, it's not..." But before I could say another word, the door opened, revealing the teacher.
Long story short, he shouted at both of them for doing that sort of mess in his classroom and punished both with detention for two consecutive days.
"I can't believe him!" I said as me and Ryujin were leaving the classroom.
"I mean, it's not Yeji's fault that Yeonjun is an idiot, so why would she get punished too?" I groaned as we reached the center of the school.
"I know... it's so weird. He's never done something like that, either." Ryujin replied.
"Ryujinnie!" The easily recognizable voice of Beomgyu pierced the air.
Both me and Ryujin turned to face the respective guy. And of course, he was with the one and only... "Huening Kai..." I whispered as my eyes widened.
"Oh, shoot." I said under my breath when he glanced at me. "Beomgyu oppa!" The two lovers hugged dearly.
I was standing there, smiling at the lover's cuteness, trying to ignore Kai, who was looking at me.
"Did you hear? Some sort of commission will come at our school, and they'll go around classes to observe how the students learn and behave." Beomgyu said instantly, as their bodies parted.
His words caught both Ryujin's and my attention. Although Kai didn't seem so fascinated by his words.
"They'll choose three lucky students to go abroad to school. I think in Paris, if I'm not mistaken." He continued.
"Wow! Do you think we could be chosen? I mean, Paris is pretty amazing as it is, but studying there too, it would be like a dream come true!" Ryujin said with excitement in her voice.
"Maybe. Who knows?" He responded with a smile on his own face.
"It would be cool if at least one of us could go there! Right, Yuna?" Ryujin's words startled me a bit.
"Yeah..." But before I could say anything else, Kai spoke.
"Pfft! Yeah, sure! I doubt she could ever be chosen on her own merit! I mean, unless her dad bribes the commission, I don't think she could ever be smart enough."
"Oh, come on, Kai. Don't be so rude!" Beomgyu said, seemingly upset by his friend.
"I'm not rude, I'm real! Like, come on, guys. You know I'm right!" He defended himself.
My eyes were starting to water, but I wouldn't give in so easily.
"That's what you think about me? Fine, I'll prove you wrong. I'll show you that I am more than capable of earning something on my own!" I said confidently.
Everyone looked at me, and Ryujin gave me a thumbs up, encouraging me.
"Alright then. We'll see." He looked me up and down, leaving afterward.
"Why does he hate you so much for?" Beomgyu asked as we watched the guy turn a corner.
"I don't even know." I said sincerely.
"Okay, let's go to class. We'll be late." Ryujin said, and we parted ways.
