My Dad's Best Friend

Chapter 1- Cora

~Ding Ding Ding~

         I begin to stir on my bed as i begin to my alarm going off. I look at my phone for the time saying it 7:45 in the morning, letting me know its time to get ready for school. Its my last year of college and I have a total amount of 3 months left to go til i graduate from college. I am a Senior in Westwood college. I begin to stretch and rub my eyes as i begin to wake up. I stand up out of my bed, walk to my closet and find some clothing for today. I pick out a pair of black jeans with some hole in them, my rolling stones shirt and a red and black plaid over shirt. I also get my black high tops and my hat, due to the weather still being cold out, since it is February and snowy. 

      As i got everything ready, and i am fully dressed, i walk downstairs to get some orange juice and an apple. As i finish up my orange juice and apple, I see my dad come downstairs to get some coffee. 

"Good morning, sweetie." He kisses the top of my head. I smile back. 

"Good morning, dad." I take a look at him as i finish the last bit of my o.j. before rinsing my cup out and putting it in the sink. "What do you have planned for today?"

"Oh, not too much really. I have to stop by the office today and do some paperwork. Then I have to stop by the store to grab some things for dinner tonight. What about you?" 

I look at my watch, and realize i need to get going. " I have school, and thats about it. Might have Sarah come over for a bit. If thats alright with you?" 

"Of course sweetie. Thats fine with me.". he smiles and then kisses me on the head, as he starts walking toward the table to grab the paper, but as he begins to sit down, he says, "oh by the way Cora, Apollo will be stopping by to hang out later on." 

I slightly feel a blush creep up from my neck to my cheeks, hoping my dad don't see them change colors. I say, " oh, alright, what time will he be by?" He looks up from the paper and Notices my cheeks turn pink, but i quickly turn around and walk towards the trash to throw the rest of my apple away, which is mainly the core. 

"He told me around 4 or 5. He needed to finish up some things at work before heading over." I begin walking towards him and nod, " Ok, dad. I probably wont be home until after 3 because i have 2 classes today, plus I plan to do some writing a little bit for the paper. I have a deadline for my article this Friday so i need to get as much of it done before then." 

Jim nods his head as he smiles at her. 

"Im so proud of you hunny. You are working so hard, and keeping your grades up." He kisses the top of my head, then says, " You better get going, or you will be late for your class. I'll see you when you get home.

I grab the rest of my stuff that i need to take with me to school, like my backpack, wallet, keys and phone. " Bye dad, I love you. I'll see you around 3." I kiss my dad on the cheek and run out the door to my car. I start it, but before i put it in reverse, i get a text message. I look for my phone, in which i find in my bags front pocket. I look and see its from Sarah. I smile after i read the message.
