One day, they were approached by a young prince fascinated by magic. This prince was a fighter, and he had a team of warriors assembled, just like Merlin and Morgana. The two were accepted into this team, which they would name the roundtable, after Merlin bestowed the group with a table with a special meaning. During his time in the roundtable, Merlin fell in love with the prince, who had by then become King. As for Morgana, she caused trouble for many. She tricked people, caused destruction, and even causing conflict with the knights of the Roundtable. This made Merlin and Morgana against each other, and soon Morgana left the Roundtable. One day, King Arthur's brother Mordred fell ill. Merlin decided to heal him by bestowing upon him magic, which would heal him. Mordred began training his abilities and even became stronger than Merlin, who he over time, started to secretly despise him. Merlin gifted the King with a sword of his own creation. He enchanted it and carved runes into it, giving the sword the name Excalibur. Meanwhile, Mordred was trying to ruin the roundtable by making them hate each other with his magic. This didn't work on Merlin and the King, as it seems their love for one another overpowered the spell. Despite this, Mordred's plan worked, and he attacked the King's domain and his people. He was able to summon beings from an unknown world to assist him. No one was able to stop Mordred, and he easily overpowered Merlin. The King approached his brother angrily, and challenged him to a duel, but this was a mistake. The King lost, and he was killed by his own brother, and stabbed by his own sword. Merlin found his dead body and was enraged. He placed a curse on Mordred, and turned him into a beast. He sealed him away in the underworld. Merlin never used his magic this way, but his anger and sadness got the best of him. Merlin put the king's body in the lake, so that he could swim into the afterlife peacefully. He created stone to trap the sword where it was, and enchanted it, and only the one worthy of wielding the sword could break it from it's rocky prison. Merlin was a wise and peaceful person, but the death of his lover turned him into a violent wizard.
