You started hanging out with Rin less. He just aren't the same kind and shy person you know before. You won't hesitate to call him Sae 2.0 if it weren't for the bad terms they are in right now.
You can definitely tell the similarities and that they are related with the shit personality now.
But of course, Rin noticed that and tried to hang out with you more instead of being hung up on revenge all the time.
The relationship between the two of you are.... kind of the same as before.

Rin: 16 years old
"You... look happy today." Rin pointed out.
"I just got my first ever confession yesterday." You inform with a smile.
"Con...fession?" He questioned.
He's not confused about the confession part, he's confused about the 'first ever' part.
Why? He thought people will swoon all over you with your face and figure and most importantly, your bright-ish personality.
What he didn't know is that, sure you might have pretty face and good figure, but your personality is quiet and cold when in school, pushing everyone away.
Well, this was all to prevent yourself to get attached and the other party merciless throwing you away like some trash. You hated fake friends the most.
"Yeah, and I have no idea who that guy is!" You sounded concerningly happy about something you shouldn't.
"And you're happy about that..?" He raise his eyebrow.
"That's not it, he gave me a big box of chocolate and a bouquet of flowers!" You said.
"You accepted it?" Rin ask with concern visible in his tone.
You noded before continuing.
"I rejected him though." You added.
"You should've seen his face. That look of disbelieve he held was honestly the funniest." You chuckle.
"......" The feeling of concern returns.
It's been like this ever since the broken promise happened. With Rin, becoming not so energetic and listen to everything you have to say and you talking about some events that happened.
Both of you never brought up the name 'Sae' after that argument.
"Hey, Rin. It's been a while since I last played..." You lift your head to look at the sky.
It's a nice cloudy weather...
"There are no practices after school today." Rin who got the message answered with.
"......." Then the comfortable silence returns.

Rin came to pick you up from school and the two of you went to a nearby football field straight away.
"Rin-Rin, how about you teach me more techniques?" You roll the ball around with your feet.
"Rin...Rin...?" Rin is currently rethinking his life choices after hearing that nickname.
"So?" You ask.
"I don't think there's anything to teach..... And please, don't call me that again." He sweat dropped.
"First to 5 goals it is then." You pass the ball to Rin.
