As the tributes stand on their podiums, the horn sounds.
District 1
Scott's POV
As the horn sounds, I run off toward the forest. I don't even look back. I can't hear fighting but can hear a few yells as people try to grab stuff. I look to my right and see another tribute running in the same direction. We gain eye contact for a few seconds before they change paths. I reach the forest and slow down. My main goal now is to find water.
District 2
fWhip's POV
The forest is the second safest bet. There will be carnage at the cornucopia. And at the rock, there won't be as many dangerous animals. But when you're closest to the forest, that's where you go. So, that's what I did. I saw the person from District 1 do the same. We gained eye contact before I changed directions... Maybe we could team up.
District 3
Jack's POV
As soon as the horn sounded, I jumped off my platform. I didn't want to risk dying just yet. I ran to the cornucopia and grabbed the first thing I saw. Some weird, small trident... I believe it's called a Sai. I took two before I saw an arrow whistling right by my ear. I ran to the forest, being directly behind another tribute. I hope they won't kill me-
District 6
Lauren's POV
The girls from Districts 5 and 7 both ran towards the cornucopia. I would like to say that that was the opposite of what I did. The rocks aren't the biggest, so they're easy to scale. Once on top of one, I lie down and think about my dog, husband, and daughter I left at home. I might get us a better place to live; who knows! I wave at the sky, knowing they'll see it.
District 8
Pat's POV
Is it smart to team up with Solidarity, or as he told me to call him Jimmy, from District 14? Probably not. But I did either way. He grabbed some fishing bait while I grabbed the fishing gear. We then ran towards the forest, deciding there was a higher chance of finding a pond, lake, river, or anything in there. I do hope we split up soon. Then there is a higher chance of winning.
District 9
Eleni's POV
Running away is the best option, right? Either way, that's what I did. Once behind the rocks, I began questioning what I should do now. Should I find someone to team up with or stay alone.. I continued walking.
District 10
Callum's POV
I ran away; I do admit that. The risk of dying is too high. That is not my goal. I want to win this, you know. I didn't take the same risk as the girl from District 11; she ran towards the cornucopia, grabbed something, and ran to the left, towards the forest. Now this makes me seem like a coward, but as I said, I don't want to die just yet. I instead ran to the rocks that were right behind me. I did see a few others do the same, but it's better than dying.
District 11
Shelby's POV
I look at my surroundings; behind me are rocks, and to my left is a forest; to my right more rocks. I see a backpack a few meters away and decide that is the only thing I will take. The longer I'm here, the higher the risk of dying is. The horn sounds, and I get the backpack a few seconds later. I then take the risk of running towards the forest to my left. I'm not dead yet...
District 12
Mika's POV
Like the girl and boy from either side of me, I run towards the cornucopia. My eyes were fixated on the first aid kit in front of me. I grab it and begin retreating. I don't want to die. A boy holds a bow and some arrows and loads the bow. He spots me and aims. I begin running, hearing the whistle of an arrow right by my ear. I continue running, reaching the rocks where I hide.
District 15
Meghan's POV
My hands trembling, I see people running on either side of me. I keep standing on my podium till I hear an explosion to my right. A podium has exploded. The one next to it then explodes. I realize all the stands will explode, mine being the next. I jump off and turn towards the rocks; a few seconds later, my podium explodes. I got a minor burn on my arm as I wasn't far enough away. Standing between the rocks, I inspect the burn. It isn't too bad, so I find a big leaf and bind it around my arm to avoid getting anything into the burn. Then I sit down. It has already been an eventful day...
District 16
Oli's POV
I was the first near the cornucopia. Because of that, I could get the best weapons. I decided that'd be the bow. I picked it up together with some arrows and loaded it. I then looked around to find someone to shoot. The girl who grabbed a backpack was the perfect target. I fired but missed, and she ran. I then tried my luck with a boy who had grabbed something but missed again. He ran the same way as the girl. I ran after them, but they were nowhere to be found...
3rd person
In the end, only four tributes remain at the cornucopia. JoeyGraceffa from District 4, Kathrine Elizabeth from District 5, LDShadowLady from District 7, and SmallishBeans from District 13. They have put all remaining resources in the middle and are now sharing them. They're all still careful around each other, especially around Joey. They knew he had trained for this his entire life. Ultimately, all were distributed between them, and they ran away. None of them wanted to die just yet.
