"Mackenzie, let's go!" Maddie whined.
"Hold on!" Mackenzie yelled at her sister as she took a selfie in the bathroom mirror. She quickly posted the picture and wrote "#whitegirlstatus". She ran downstairs and hopped in the car.
"Finally!" Her 15 year old sister sighed and joined her in the car.
"Why are you in such a rush? We're going to school." Mackenzie rolled her eyes and unlocked her phone.
"I have a book report due in first period. I can't be late." Maddie sighed and took out "Papertowns" by John Green.
"You're such a nerd." Mackenzie laughed texting Paige.
"I am not a nerd. I just enjoy reading." Maddie defended while pushing her glasses up from the bridge of her nose.
"Why don't you wear your contacts like you do for dance?" Mackenzie asked.
"Because I don't like poking my eyes." Maddie shrugged as they pulled up to the school.
"Be home by 2:00!" Melissa yelled after the girls.
"Ok!" The sisters called out in unison as Maddie closed the door.
"Kenzie!!" Paige, Mackenzie's bubbly blonde friend squealed running up to the girl.
"Maddie! Major news!" Chloe, Maddie's best friend, and Paige's sister, ran up to her less energetic then her sister.
"What?" Maddie asked.
"He's gonna ask you!" Paige jumped up and down in excitement.
"No way!!!" Mackenzie squealed.
"And he's gonna ask you!" Chloe squealed. Maddie's eyes just grew wide in shock.
"When?" Mackenzie asked Chloe.
"Today." Chloe informed putting her phone in her back pocket.
"What?!?! I look homeless today!" Maddie pouted.
"Says the white girl in her $50 jeans, $100 leather jacket, and perfectly curled hair." Mackenzie laughed.
"Shut up." Maddie giggled.
"Nick 9 o'clock!" Paige warned her friend. Mackenzie quickly ran her fingers through her hair and went on her phone.
Nick walked up to the girls. "Hi Paige. Hey Chloe. Hey Madison. Uh h-hi Kenzie." He greeted.
"Hey." Paige, Chloe, and Maddie greeted.
"Hi Nick." Mackenzie waved putting her phone down to greet him.
"Uh wanna walk to history together?" Nick nervously asked.
"I'm flattered Nick but-" Paige started.
"No offense Paige, but I was talking to Kenzie." Nick laughed nervously.
"Oh... Right." Paige giggle.
"So Kenzie wanna walk to history?" Nick asked again.
"Well... I-I..."
"It's fine. I'll see you in class." Nick slumped away.
"Kenzie!" Maddie slapped her sister's arm.
"I got nervous!" Mackenzie cried.
"Go after him!" Chloe yelled.
"Right!" Mackenzie picked up her school bag and ran after him.
"Nick, wait up!" Mackenzie called after him. Nick just walked faster. She finally caught up by his locker.
"I've been chasing you from outside. You're really fast." Mackenzie breathed. Nick just closed his locker and walked away. "Gotta go? Ok! I'll see you later?" Mackenzie called after as Paige walked up to her. "He digs me." Mackenzie softly laughed.
"It's okay honey." Paige rubbed her best friends back. Mackenzie sighed and slumped to history as the bell rang.
"Our next project will require partners." Mr. Monroe began. Everyone started whispering. "But I will be choosing the partners." He finished. A groan filled the classroom.
"Ok... Joe with Addison. Stella with Macy. And Nick with Mackenzie."
Nick put his head in his hands and Mackenzie sighed.
"Get with your partners."
Mackenzie got up and walked over to Nick's desk.
"Uh hi." She said awkwardly.
"Let's just do the project." Nick sighed. Mackenzie nodded and sat down.
After 40 more awkward minuets, the bell rang for 2nd period.
"So I'll see you at dance?" Mackenzie asked. Nick just walked away. Mackenzie sighed and walked to gym.
"Hey girlie." Maddie said to Mackenzie as her sister walked into locker room.
"Hi." Mackenzie sighed as she unlocked her locker.
"I'm thinking history didn't go so well?"
"Any hope I had, is history." Mackenzie cried.
"Aw sissy." Maddie hugged her sister. Mackenzie broke away and went to change into her gym uniform.
When the timer went off the sisters exited the locker room and headed to the gym. In the gym everyone was gathered in a circle.
"What's going on?" Maddie asked Chloe. Chloe moved over and revealed Brandon standing there with a rose. Maddie blushed.
"Maddie? Will you go to homecoming with me?" He asked her handing over the rose.
"Yes." Maddie giggled accepting the rose as Brandon smiled cheekily. Maddie hugged Brandon and they talked the rest of the class. Even when they ran laps they ran holding hands.
The bell rang and the kids filed into the separate locker rooms. Mackenzie quickly changed and reapplied her makeup. Off to lunch.
Hi everyone! This is my new book! It's not really good so far, but I'll try to update a few times a week and make it better! Thanks!
