A Vigilante?

It was cold outside there was no denying that. The wind as cold and the rain that pattered on the street was even colder.

Shadows always loomed this side of Paris ever since Hawkmoths defeat two years ago. The people of Paris celebrated, but slowly realized that although the villain had been defeated the heros who had saved them where nowhere to be found. Two days later the tragic reports of three missing children were reported.

The missing children being Marinette, Adrien and a boy by the name of Izuku.

The once celebrating city fell into ruin. No one was happy. If Hawkmoth was still around he would be in heaven.

All this lead to the once lively corner of Paris that hosted the DuPain-Cheng bakery to be consumed by sadness and shadows. The area fell to crime. It was common knowledge that once you entered this part of Paris you were at the mercy of the many villains and criminals that roamed the dark alleys and cold abandoned streets.

That was, until three particular shadows had enough. No one ever heard them approach. No one ever saw their faces. But everyone saw the effect of what they were doing.

The darkness of the area never left and it was still dangerous, the chance of getting mugged was high, but lower that it had been before.

_________

A subtle green shimmer flickered in the distance. An echoing scream and then silence. The cold wind whipped around my face as I hopped from on roof to the other. The shadows quietly collecting behind me. Waiting patiently for me to call them to action. I didn't slow. I kept going the rain feeling like bullets against my skin. A lesser person would cry out in pain, but I didn't mind. The pain was a reminder of all that was wrong, what I needed to fix.

My pace quickened as my ears picked up a sound that I hated, yet it was a sound that I needed to hear.

"Leave the lady alone".

The voice repeated, it was Izu no doubt helping another old person get through the dangerous area. The sound of protest got ever so much louder as I reared up on the scene. A man covered from head to toe in black robes stood back to me.

The chance presented itself so I took it. Within a matter of moments the shadows had speared the man in the back.

I had recognized him. He was the man who had killed countless innocent passer by.

The police did nothing about it so it was grand time someone did something

The few tendrils of shadow slowly recoiled from the dead mans back before coming back to join the rest of the shadows that had weaved themselves into my cloak. And I jumped off.

I didn't like attention. C always said that it was something I had to work on but I always ignored him. It was much easier to save and leave. It made for more time to find more people in trouble.

'Life may lead you in a direction that you don't appreciate at first but you must learn to take that to your advantage'

One of the many lessons Master Fu had taught me during my time as LB. It was useful, yet also the one I disregarded the most.

Maybe one of these days I would heed that lesson with more respect, and listen to the words of my wise but long gone dead master.

But for now I wouldn't rest till I truly caught the man who had terrorized Paris for all my teenage years.
