I love you

The warm water was running down my back. I grabbed my conditioner and lathered up my hair. I heard the bathroom door open. I peeped my head out from behind the shower curtain, my eyes met Andrew, my best friend since birth. His eyes widened when he saw my face and a smirk appeared on his face.

"And why are you in here while I'm showering?" I asked, narrowing my eyes at him.

"Oh you know, just brushing my teeth." He said as he grabbed his tooth brush. I returned to my shower. This definitely wasn't the first time this happened. I rinsed the product out of my hair, shut the water off, and wrapped my towel around me. I slid the shower curtain to the side and grabbed my tooth brush. Andrew looked over at me and I just smiled in response. This summer felt different. Andrew wasn't the same anymore. Don't get me wrong I still liked him, I mean who wouldn't he was gorgeous. He had piercing blue eyes, chocolate brown hair, and a very toned body. I'm talking eight pack here. I also happened to be in love with him.

"I think you're teeth are spotless now. You've been brushing them for a while." He joked with his signature smile plastered upon his face. I made a face and rolled my eyes, while I spit out my mouthful of toothpaste and rinsed my mouth. I turned towards Andrew and shooed him away with my hands, but he didn't move an inch.

"Come on. You told me you wanted to go to the beach this morning. I need to change." I complained.

"And I need to leave why?" He questioned, with that irresistible smirk. I shoved him in his steel wall of abs, my hand ached after. He laughed at my pained look. He still wasn't moving at all.

"Um. If you're not going to leave I'm going to change right in front of you." I deadpanned. He just looked at me like 'Yeah right.' I grabbed my bikini and managed to put it on under my towel without exposing myself. Once it was on, I dropped my towel. I felt pretty accomplished. I looked over at Andrew just in time to catch his eyes raking all over my body. I blushed, but I also felt giddy inside. I've never seen Andrew do that. Ever. Well sure he did it to other girls, but never me. His eyes locked with mine, Andrew coughed awkwardly, and adverted his eyes to the door. He slipped past me and out the door, before I could even process what was happening. I shut the door and sat down on the tub. So confused. What did all of this mean? I brushed through my hair and exited the bathroom. I opened the door and ran right into a warm, bare chest.

"Oh hey. I was just uh coming to see if you were ready to go." Andrew said.

"I guess I am." I stated, as I awkwardly moved away from his chest. We walked down to the beach talking about random things, that didn't really matter. Once we got there I laid out my towel and plopped down on top of it.

"Aw come on you're not going swimming with me?" Andrew complained.

"Nope!" I exclaimed, while trying to put my sun lotion on my back, but miserably failing. I could hear Andrew chuckling, though I tried to ignore him.

"Do you need some help with that?" He questioned.

"Oh do you know where I could get any?" I asked sarcastically, as I gave up and began to read my magazine. Suddenly, I felt the cold suntan lotion drizzle on to my back. I could feel his hands rubbing it in, while his legs were on either side of me. I felt warm and safe. I didn't dare to say anything, mostly because I thought I was dreaming and I really didn't want it to end. Who am I kidding? He was just being helpful. It meant nothing. Soon, his hands left my back and the warmth left my body with a shiver. I could feel his breath on my neck, which made my heart beat faster. He pressed his lips to my neck, sending fireworks down my spine. I turned to look at Andrew, his eyes searched my face for a reaction. He got up quickly and started pacing.

"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry, Payton. That was out of line. Please don't hate me." He exclaimed.

"I'll only hate you if you don't come back over here and kiss me." I stated. He looked shocked at first, but then happy.  He walked over and sat down next to me. He looked into my eyes and began to lean in. This is really happening. My best friend Andrew is about to kiss me, the guy I have been in love with for the past five years. Once his lips crashed on to mine, sparks erupted in my body. He pulled away too soon and searched for my reaction again. I wrapped my arms around his neck and pulled him in for another kiss. We ended up laying down with him on top of me, but he had his arms on either side of me so he wouldn't crush me. I pulled away this time, my lungs begging for air.

"I love you." He blurted out. A huge smile appeared on my face.

"I love you, too."

THE END.
