As college resumption drew near, Emma's excitement reached new heights. She eagerly approached her parents, hoping to discuss her plans for accommodation during her college years. With a glimmer of hope in her eyes, she expressed her desire to either get an apartment or reside on campus, relishing the independence and sense of adventure that awaited her.

However, her parents met her enthusiasm with resistance. Their faces remained stern and unyielding, as if determined to quash her dreams before they had a chance to take flight. Emma's heart sank as they dismissed her requests, their refusal feeling like a heavy weight upon her aspirations.

She mustered up the courage to persuade them, presenting her case with conviction. "Mom, Dad, living on campus or getting an apartment would be an incredible opportunity for personal growth and self-discovery. It would allow me to immerse myself fully in college life, develop crucial life skills, and forge lifelong friendships. Please consider giving me the chance to experience the independence I've been longing for."

Her words hung in the air, pregnant with anticipation. She hoped, against all odds, that her parents would empathize with her yearning for autonomy, for a chance to spread her wings and embrace the transformative college experience that awaited her.

Emma couldn't comprehend why her parents were denying her the opportunity to live independently and experience college life on her own terms. She had been eagerly looking forward to the freedom and growth that came with living away from home, but their refusal felt like a crushing blow to her dreams.

As she sat across the table from her parents, their expressions remained stern and unyielding. She tried to keep her voice steady as she pleaded her case once more, hoping they would see reason.

Her mother sighed, as if irritated exchanging a knowing glance with her father. "Emma, you're still a kid what do you know about having the desire to be independent, I am not going back on this. You staying with our family friend is a better option for you. It's a safe and familiar environment. You'll have guidance and support while focusing on your studies."

Emma felt a mix of frustration and disappointment welling up inside her. "But I don't even know this family friend. What kind of living arrangement is that? It's like being thrown into the unknown, and I have no say in the matter. I'm eighteen now; I should have some autonomy over my own life."

Her father's tone turned stern. "Emma, don't you ever question our decision again. We've made arrangements with the family friend, and they have kindly agreed to provide you with a comfortable living space while you attend college. Trust us, it's for the best."

Tears welled up in Emma's eyes, threatening to spill over. She couldn't believe her parents were dismissing her desires and dreams so easily, without even considering her perspective. With a heavy heart, she realized that their decision was final and that arguing further would be futile.

She stood up from the table, her voice trembling. "Fine. If that's what you both think is best, then I'll go along with it. But please understand how much this hurts. I wanted to make my own choices, to have some control over my life. It feels like you don't trust me."

Her mother's expression hardened, and she stood up to Emma's height. "Emma, aren't you an ungrateful little thing? We just want to ensure your well-being and provide a stable environment during this critical time in your education. We are your parents and we know what's best for you."

Emma nodded, her voice choked with emotion. "I know you know what it is that's best for me, but it's hard to see it right now. I'll go pack my things and prepare for this arrangement. But please remember that I am still an adult, and I need your support in navigating this new phase of my life."

She turned away, holding back the tears that threatened to spill over. As she walked to her room, the weight of disappointment settled on her shoulders, but she was determined to make the best of the situation. She would find a way to make her mark, even if her parents had chosen a different path for her.

Behind closed doors, Emma finally let her emotions flow freely, the tears streaming down her face. She mourned the loss of the independence and college experience she had yearned for, while also reminding herself that she still had the power to shape her future, even within the confines of the unexpected living arrangement.

Realizing her cries wouldn't make any difference, she wiped away her tears and began to pack her belongings, ready to face the uncertain journey that lay ahead. It was time to find strength within herself and make the most of the circumstances she had been given.

I wasn't given a chance to explain myself all that I received were just curses. but it's ok I hope for the best because it's emotionally and mentally draining to be around them. but I can't really say s***.
