Episode 3: Maze of Yahya

"The City of Dawn is a city known for its fearless soldiers."

"Is there anything that you like to buy?"

The blazing heat had risen to its peak as the infuriated sun hung above the meridian, glaring down at the energetic and youthful customers on that crammed street.

"It is known for producing strong, devoted, and brave warriors."

Yahya didn't pay any heed to the pricking burn that clung through his small frame. As they ambled across the street, he craned his neck, his big blue eyes zoning in on his surroundings.

The series of markets and shops were lined up on both sides of the road. The vendors had laid out their carts at the corners, selling out ornaments, street foods, clothes, sugarcane juice, brewing tea, and whatnot. The crisp aroma of fried chicken, potatoes, samosas, and coffee beans hung in the warm air.

"Its soldiers? They are hard as nails."

He tore his gaze away from the buzzing ambience and looked up at Haarim, thinned his lips and shook his head. Though the aroma was making his stomach grumble, his mind had been revolving around a specific thing for a long time now.

"They are feisty, daring, courageous, and determined on the battlefield."

Haarim had vowed to buy him a new bow. He had suggested he tag along to Browchery, the archery shop. Since Yahya had nothing to do in this new city, he had agreed.

They walked and walked until they reached the end of the street. He stopped when Haarim halted before a small doorway.

"If someone wants to join the army, they settle down at The City of Dawn."

The height of the doorway was smaller than that of other shops. He trailed his gaze down the doorframe of the shop. His eyes ceased. There was no threshold.
