Flashback 2019

He looked at me with those genuine deep brown eyes knowing what I was about to say, he wouldn't believe me.

I finally let it out. "Joao, I think you should stop seeing Magui."

He lets out a hesitant laugh walking around the porch taking in what I had just said. What seems like forever he stops and bites his cheek.

"Honestly I don't know what to say Chlo. First you ignore me after my game, then you ghost me and your best friend-"

"Magui's not my best friend" I interrupted him aggressively.

"Whatever! I don't care! You ditched me for days, weeks! And all of a sudden you show up on my front porch telling me to break up with my girlfriend? You think after what you did I 'd do any shit you tell me to do?"

I shake my head. "You don't know Magui like I do. She hooks up with guys and then ditches them the next day! Boyfriend after boyfriend! She-"

"CHLOE. I DON'T CARE WHAT SHE DID, all I care is that Magui was there for me, I trust her more than anyone at this point."

My whole body freezes in disgust. How could he say that? "You trust her more than me?"

He looked at me, finally figuring out what he had just said. He fumbled with his words as I looked at him sadly. Nothing comes out of his mouth. It felt like he had just stabbed me through my heart.

"No fucking way you just said that Joao, I've been by your side for months - supporting you anyway I can and you trust a girl YOU'VE BEEN DATING FOR 2 WEEKS MORE THAN ME?"

"LOOK Chloe I liked you okay? But you rejected m-"

"IT DOESN'T MATTER IF I REJECTED YOU OR NOT, I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE YOU WOULD CHOOSE HER OVER ME?"

"What are you trying to say? Are you jealous that I chose Magui over you?"

I was at my highest point right now, there's no point arguing with him anymore. "You know what, I'm done. I don't care if Magui hurts you, I really hope you see her true self."

I stormed off and got into my car. I turned it on and drove away with hot tears running down my face. Right then and there I had just realized I had lost someone I loved.
