I've always been "that boy", the one you who stands up for others. The one who is the voice for the misfortune. For example; Carl J. Edwards.
It was in fourth grade at Meadow peaks elementary school. Carl, he was a small kid, with his high IQ. He could've been in sixth grade; but, he didn't want to be in a higher grade. He wanted to stay in a grade with the kids his age.
That's where the problem happened.
You see, there were some kids.. Who weren't as smart as Carl. One of those kids being Jameson E. Davidson.
Jameson was a fifth grader, always picking on the weak. His main target; Carl. Everyday after lunch at recess he would track Carl down and beat the living crap out of him.
The teachers, not giving a damn.
Though, on this day of March, 15th: Jameson took it too far, when he grabbed Carl's hand and broke it. I've had enough...
Jameson kicks the whimpering Carl to the dirt and began laughing, his friends laughing along side him.
"Hey James, Look who's comin'" one of Jameson's friends spoke up.
"Well, if it isn't the new kid on the block. Why don't you go play with your koalas Austie?" Jameson snickered. I give Carl and hand and help him up, "Stay behind me" I whisper in his ear. Carl holds his hand, wiping the tears from his face and nodding.
"Hey I'm talkin' to ya!" Jameson snapped as he grabs my shoulder.
I spun around and gave him a hard kick to the gut, as he bends down I kick him hard in the face causing him to stumble back. I quickly slipped under him and grabs his arm, finally flipping him over my shoulder and onto the ground.
Jameson groans as blood comes out of his nose. I let go of his arm and look at his friends "Anyone else?"
They shake their heads and quickly ran off.
"What on earth is going on here!? Riker Alvarez!!!" A voice sounded from behind me.
Uh oh... I slowly turn around and found Mrs. Fowler glaring at me like a hawk peering down at a mouse.
Great...
___________
The bell rings. I sat outside the principals office as I heard my uncle and principal talk.
"He's a good boy, really ma'am. I swear it."
"I'm sorry Mr. Conner, but we have to go through with this. The kids are afraid of him now. We can't have scared kids in our school sir."
Silence.
"I understand, one month... Alright. I'll have him school ready by than."
"Thank you Mr. Conner."
My uncle, Edwin Conner.
He went with my aunt's last name, to keep her family's name due to her being a single child; but before they could have kids their own. She died of cancer.Broke his heart, he blocked everyone out for about a year or two. Though, when my parents died. He opened up to me.
Edwin walks out of the office and looks at me, blankly. I give him a nervous grin.
"Heh- hi..." I managed before he grabs my ear and pulls me off the seat and down the hall.
"What were you thinking!? Beating up a school mate! You've only been here for three months and your already being suspended from school!!!" he stated stressfully as we walk out the double doors.
"Ow, Ow, Ow, ow" was all I could manage to say until he shoved me in his old Chevy pickup and slams the door as he gets in the drivers seat.
"That's it Riker. No pizza nights, no video games, and no late nights. I want you in bed by 8 o' clock! Ya got me!?"
"Yes Sir..." I sighed and looks out the window.
Those were Edwins punishments. Mainly because I love those things especially with him at my side. Him being my dad's brother, he was like my dad. Though I could only guess, I never actually met my parents. I was only a month old when they died.
I wanted to go back to Australia, with my friends. A great way to start off a year in US school with a month of suspension. How fun. Just for helping others in need...
