Yuugi quickly shuffled a deck of ordinary playing cards, sitting at the small table of his living room. Across from him sat Mokuba Kaiba, the younger brother of one Seto Kaiba. Seto had left some minutes ago, wishing to return to his mansion after a day of testing new Kaiba Corporations Duel Monsters merchandise with the King of Games. Mokuba had chosen to stay behind, much to the older's surprise. Yuugi had also been a bit taken aback, but not really complaining. It was nice to know someone still seemed to acknowledge his existence...

After a few rounds of Go-Fish, 21, and Blackjack, Mokuba broke the somewhat-contented silence. "How have you been, Yuugi?" he asked coolly, gray eyes not leaving his hand. The young Game King spat out a familiar lie. "Fine." The younger lifted his eyes to disbelievingly look at the teen.

Fine? Yeah, RIGHT.

It had been a rough few weeks since the Ushio incident. Yuugi had been nervous, and fidgety. He'd refused to go out when it was close to getting dark, and if he did, he usually had a friend (or his new can of pepperspray) by his side. Not to mention (though unknown to his friends) that the amount of cuts appearing over his arms had increased.

They didn't know of the three to five wounds added to his flesh each day when the anxiety, the self disgust, the fear, became to great. They didn't know...

And to top it all off, Yami was becoming as distant, if not more so, than he had been before.

"At least, I'm better than before..." he offered lamely, rubbing his neck with a free hand. Mokuba won the round of cards. Being his turn to deal, Yuugi reached over to take the cards from the table's center.

A hand snapped out and gripped his wrist tightly. Yuugi looked up in alarm, trying not to flinch as his cuts gave a series of sharp throbs. Mokuba was glaring at the eighteen year old with a leer that rivaled even that of his older brother's. And that was saying a lot, considering his usually kind and playful attitude. Yuugi blinked, tilting his head in confusion.
