This Can't be Happening

After a long day in the hot Nevada sun, I need a *long* cold shower. I am glad that people were brought in here to install spaces that made it easier for human sustainability... aka building a bathroom. This place is technically an old military base after all. There had to be people here at one point. I hop into the shower after peeling off my sweat-drenched clothes. The ice-cold water felt like ecstasy on my skin. I made sure every inch of me felt that sweet relief from the day I had. I did not care too much about how long it took; nobody would protest since I am the only human here today. I wonder if I should jet home to do some laundry. When I finally emerge from the shower, I check my phone. An hour has gone by, that is pretty typical for me. I grab my towel and pat myself down a bit. I leave my dirty clothes behind and start walking towards the lovely little space I made for myself in this base. I did not bother to wrap my towel around me but rather dried myself as I walked. Making it to my little space, I threw the towel around my neck as I dug around for a change of clothes.

"Y/N, do you have a moment to talk?" I let out a small yelp as I frantically threw my towel around me as quickly as I could.

"Ah, pardon me, I did not intend to scare you."

"Optimus, you can't see me like this!" I reply, adjusting my towel carefully as a blush paints my face.

"I am afraid I do not understand. Nothing appears to be wrong with your physical features."

"T-That's not what I meant. Humans typically wear clothes, that fabric layer that's different from our skin. I-It's not exactly... Umm, well, we just don't go walking around without them for a reason." I turn my head towards the pile of clothes I was searching through.

"While I do not completely understand, I will leave you now. I hope you are open to explaining this further to me later."

"Y-Yeah, sure. Later sounds good." I shove my hands to my face after he left my view. Ack- how did he- where did he- how in the hell did he sneak up on me? He is a 28-foot-tall robot for crying out loud! How did I not hear him? I shouldn't think about this. There's no need to think about this. He's... not technically human so the same sort of social constructs doesn't apply to him. At least, not exactly. This won't affect him so it shouldn't affect me. I should stop thinking about this. It's fine, everything's fine. Yeah.

Oh my gosh. Optimus Prime saw me naked.

~a bit later~

I wonder if I upset Y/N somehow. I wonder if it was something I did. She did not seem particularly pleased to see me. I hope I can make this right with her. The last thing I want to do is make her feel uncomfortable.

"Ah, Optimus. Why so glum? Did something happen?" I turn to face my old friend, Ratchet.

"It is to my knowledge that I upset Y/N and yet I do not understand how."

"Perhaps I can provide an explanation! I have been doing more extensive research on humans, especially young adult humans. It is quite fascinating if I must say."

"Perhaps. I went to ask her a question but apparently seeing her without clothes was not something I was supposed to do. Perhaps it is a taboo among her people." Ratchet's optics widened as he smiled.

"Oh ho, that I have an answer for! Human clothing has been around for as long as they have. More recently, social constructs have formed around clothing. With your situation, humans can be fairly picky with who they allow to see them without clothes. It is a privilege typically reserved for families or even friends and partners. Does that help at all?" I tapped my chin as I nod.

"Yes. Thank you, Ratchet." The next time I see her, I will surely apologize.

Maybe I should sleep. At this point, it's getting late, and I haven't done much of anything since this afternoon. This might help with clearing my mind from earlier as well. Ah, wait. I need to transfer those documents before bed. It shouldn't take too long. I drag myself out of bed and slide over to my desk.
