Bruni scrambles out of the bowl of jerky with Max barking right after the little lizard.
None of the humans—or mermaids—take notice, as dogs always chase after things.
Usually, Bruni would cast a fire to scare away his enemies, but he promised Elsa he would mind his powers while at the castle.
"Bark, bark, bark, bark!" Max woofs, quick on Bruni's trail.
The salamander races out of the dining hall while a servant opened the door, holding an empty tray where chocolate sweets had been. Bruni quickly runs up the unaware servant's pants to hide in the apron pocket and catch his breath.
Max stops cold and began sniffing the ground, confused on where the lizard had gone. He keeps his big, wet nose to the polished floor to sniff out the creature smelling like his jerky.
Bruni watches as he peeks out the apron of the servant, who enters to the busy and hot kitchen to return an empty platter.
With a big grin on her face, Tiana cracks open an egg over a big bowl already filled with the starting ingredients for her famous beignets. She stirs with a whisk and hums a playful tune.
Chef Louis looks on, following her directions with his own bowl and stirrer. He has already eaten some of Tiana's treat; powdered sugar gets on his face from his hands. "I have had many beignets back home in France, but not like this! What is your secret, ma cherie?"
Tiana shakes her head. "The secret, Chef, is love. Simple as that. Make all your food with love and it'll taste delicious."
"Love?" Chef Louis asks, rubbing his chin.
"Love," Tiana says with a smile. "With a dash of some suga and honey, of course. Love and sweetness, Chef."
