The bell rang and everyone got out of their seats to go home, except Rebecca. She sat in her seat picking at her hands. 

"Rebecca?" The teacher said "the bell rang, it's time to go home, hun"

"Oh, I know, sorry" Rebecca mumbled, getting out of her seat and grabbing her bag and leaving. Rebecca walked home, thinking to herself the whole way stuff like "what if she hurts me" "what if she fucking disowns me". When she got home, her mom was waiting outside the house for her. "Shit" she thought "im dead" 

"Rebecca Ruby Smith!" Her mom yelled "your school called, said you've been cutting yourself again." The mom scowled

"Mom.. it's not what you think, those are old! I- I stopped doing that ages ago!" Rebecca explained quickly. 

"Mhm sure they are," her mom muttered "take off your jacket Becca" 

"But mom I-"

"Now, Rebecca"

Rebecca sighed and took off her jacket for the second time today to show someone her arms. Her mom gasped with horror. "Rebecca!! You said those were old, you lied to me" 

"They- they are, mom, I promise!"

"Uh huh sure they are, come inside and let's have a chat with your father."

Rebecca and he mother went inside and she was instructed to sit down. 

"So Becca," her father started "I heard you've been cutting yourself again, didn't we get over this emo phase?"

"I- dad-" 

"You know what?" Her dad started to get up from his chair "you are not going to be allowed to see Leo or talk to him until you stop with this emo shit."

Her mom chimed in "won't she see him at school?"

"We'll tell her teachers to not let them interact."

"Dad!" Rebecca shouted 

"Don't you yell at me young lady" her dad snapped back "go to your room!" 

Rebecca got up and stomped to her room then slammed the door. Her dog happened to be in her room and yelped "oh I'm sorry buddy I didn't mean to scare you!" Rebecca said, with tears in her eyes. She hugged her dog "hey pj" she smiled. "Dad's being a bitch again" she sighed and kept talking to PJ like he could understand her. He just barked and wagged his tail while Rebecca pet him.  Rebecca ended up going to bed really early that night to avoid any more conversation with her parents. 

The next day rebecca woke up and started getting ready for school, she grabbed her bag and started to head out the door when her mom called "Rebecca Ruby, if I get another call from the school, you are grounded for fucking life, got it?"

"Yes, mom"

"Good, now go to school"

Rebecca was walking to school and the moment she got in the building, the counselor pulled her into the office "hey Rebecca, I got an annonomys repot from someone that your home life isn't as great as you say it is, they said that your mother hits you." Rebecca sighed, she knew who reported it. It was Leo, she knew it was him because he's the only person who knows about what goes on at her house. Rebecca fidgeted "y-yeah I know, I dont like to talk about it, I don't know why I lied. I'm sorry miss Anne"

"It's okay don't worry Becca" miss Anne smiled. Rebecca liked her. But didn't exactly trust her. She's called Rebecca's mother a few too many times, they have this conversation after every self-harm report because Leo has always told the councilor not to call Rebecca's mom because of the situation. She went on with her day and didn't think anything was out of the ordinary until much later
