(Francesca's POV)

I'd been trying to find every excuse to get close to Pierre. And still, it wasn't enough.

It had been almost a week since what happened in the library. I couldn't get him out of my head. It was like I was slowly becoming addicted, and I hadn't even had a taste.

Yet.

Whatever. I was still going to have him, one way or another.

"Francesca!" Bella's voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

I blinked, looking at her, puzzled.

"So... what do you think?" she asked, expectantly.

Shit. I hadn't heard a word she said. I nodded anyway. "Yeah, totally."

She narrowed her eyes. "You weren't listening."

"I was!"

"Mhm. Sure." She rolled her eyes. "I was saying me and Em are going shopping Friday afternoon. You wanna come?"

"Why the hell did you say that so slow?" I laughed.

"Because you were acting like you just lost all brain function."

I held up my hands in surrender. "Okay, okay, my bad! I got lost in thought."

She shook her head. "Whaaaatever. All I know is that you better show up—with a gift."

"Yes, sir!" I saluted.

We both burst into laughter. "That was funny for literally no reason," Bella said, catching her breath.

I nodded. "I know, but I needed that."

Before she could respond, a knock at the door interrupted us. Bella got up and swung it open. And just like that, my heart did a stupid little flip.

Pierre.

"What do you want, Pierre?" Bella sighed as she walked back to her bed.

I caught myself staring, and the second he noticed, I looked away.

"O-Oh, I didn't realize you had someone over," he said.

"Well... that's why you call before just showing up," Bella replied.

"I was just letting you k-know that Father called." His eyes flicked to me for half a second before snapping back to Arabella.

Bella frowned. "Yeah, and?"

"He said he wouldn't be able to make it for your birthday. I-I just thought I'd tell you in person." His voice was soft, cautious.

I turned to Bella. Her expression hardened instantly. She scoffed. "Whatever. It's fine. When is he ever there for something I want anyway?" she muttered, anger laced in her voice.

"Bella, I'm sure he has a reason—" Pierre started.

She cut him off with a sharp glare. "More important than his own fucking daughter? Really? That's the best you've got?" She stood, shoving past him. "I am sick of you defending him."

"Bella!" Pierre and I called after her, but she was already gone.

Pierre let out a heavy sigh.

"Just give her some time," I said gently, standing up.

He turned to me, eyes uncertain. "Yea. Probably a good idea."

I gave him a small smile. He looked... drained. I stepped closer, resting a hand on his shoulder.

He tensed instantly. His breath hitched.

My smirk grew. "Why are you always so tense around me?"

His lips parted, but no words came out at first.

"I-I don't know," he finally muttered. "I'm just like that with everyone, I guess."

Liar.

I just nodded, pretending to believe him. "Well, I'll see you around, I guess. I have to catch up on World Lit." I grabbed my bag and walked past him, deliberately letting my fingers skim against his chest.

He inhaled sharply, but I didn't stop.

I smirked to myself.

Oh, Pierre... you're mine. You just don't know it yet.

Hey Cunts! I hope you all are enjoying the book! Also sorry if this chapter was short, I'm trying to make longer chapters for more important things in the story. Anyways as always that's for reading!
