JACELYN was about as lost as lost can be.
She was trying to not look insane as she scanned buildings, looking for the right one; Occasionally backtracking every once and a while just to double check. Even if she did find it, she knew she was going to look insane again trying to find the actual classroom.
Dammit, all of this sucked.
She couldn't tell if she hoped a passerby would take pity on her or if the ground should just unceremoniously swallow her wholesale. This campus was a maze and she knew she shouldn't have let Killian talk her out of plotting her whole course the night before.
She didn't have to consider this for too long as a blonde girl came over with a grin, one earbud in her shirt, the other in her ear.
"Would it be bold of me to assume you're lost?" She asked, her tone an amused sincerity that made Jacelyn trust her almost immediately.
"Bold, but not incorrect," Jacelyn replied as she offered up her phone with the zoomed in photo of her schedule. The blonde chuckled and scanned it quickly.
"Well, you're in luck, we're headed to the same place. I'm Amelia," She said, offering up her hand. Jacelyn let out a sigh of relief as she shook it.
"Jacelyn, but call me Jace," she said. Amelia nodded and fell in step next to her.
"Then, Jace, c'mon or we'll be late." Amelia said as she started walking toward the building at the top of the quad. "So, first year or never had a class in the building before?"
"Transfer actually," Jacelyn said, trying to not seem too embarrassed by it. Transfering three years into a degree was difficult and she was really hoping Amelia didn't judge her too much for it.
"Well, welcome to hell version two, hopefully you finish it liking your degree as much as you liked it when you first chose it," Amelia said, when Jace gave a small look of confusion, Amelia clarified. "I'm mostly kidding, all part of the dramatic effect y'know?" She added.
"Right, it's not so bad so far, just a lot of syllabi." Jacelyn said with a shrug.
"Fair enough," Amelia said as she pushed the door open. Jacelyn jogged a half step to catch up before walking into the massive atrium of the building. "You're good to go up a flight of stairs right?" She asked. Jacelyn nodded, thankful for the courtesy if nothing else. Amelia led them both over to the stairs and they both jogged up and walked into a side hallway and into a lecture hall where Jacelyn continued to follow Amelia as she slid into an aisle in the middle of the room, next to a man who was waving her in. Jacelyn sat next to Amelia and one seat off from the end.
"Thanks for the seat save Adé," Amelia said to the man sitting next to her. "This is Jace, she's a transfer." Adé leaned over to see Jacelyn, causing Amelia to lean back dramatically. He chuckled at her dramatics before shooting Jacelyn a wave.
"Nice to meet you, hopefully Amelia hasn't scared you off too much," he said in a measured tone that Jacelyn found surprisingly comforting.
"Hey, it's not me she has to worry about, it's your roommate, speaking of which, is Eds coming?" Amelia asked. Adé shrugged.
"He's supposed to and he said he would, try yelling at him," he said. Amelia fished out her phone and typed something with a fury as she furrowed her brow at the chat. She then scanned the message and put her phone back into her pocket.
"He said he'll be here and to leave a seat for him," Amelia said.
"Who is this?" Jacelyn asked, just in case Amelia forgot that she was new.
"Oh, Eds,"
"Edward," Adé was quick to clarify.
"Is Adé's roommate. Royal pain in the ass, bit of an asshole on occasion, but he's getting better." Amelia said, Jacelyn tried to not look too concerned by it. But it was then that the professor had come to the front of the room and started on opening remarks. Jacelyn tried to not completely zone out, really she did, but fuck was it hard.
