I opened the door to my class, not realizing I was late. A Black man with glasses that was at the center of the room calmly waved at me.
" You must be new." He said.
" Y- yeah. I'm Robin. Robin Buckley. Is this Mr. Cole's English class?"
" Mr.Cole is right next door."
" O-Oh. Are you serious? I'm so sorry. " I asked.
"It's OK, Ms. Buckley. We all make mistakes. I'm Mr. Palmer."
" No, I'm really sorry. I must have been such a distraction. I'm sorry." I said.
" There's no need to apologize. It happens to everyone."
I shielded my face as I walked out, hearing faint giggles and whispers as I closed the door and took one last look to see the girl who I had bumped into whisper to a girl next to her. Ugh, just my luck.
I walked in next door and closed the door behind me.
" You must be new." He said.
" I am. I'm Robin. Robin Buckley." I said.
Then, he looked at his attendance sheet and nodded.
"Go ahead and take a seat next to Ms. Kim." He said, pointing at a girl with long black hair and a navy blue sweatshirt.
I took my seat and took a sigh of relief as I took out my sky blue pencil bag.
" Don't think you're getting off that easy." I heard Mr.Cole suddenly say.
" W- What?" I asked.
" Why don't you introduce yourself to the class?"
" Do I have a choice?" I asked.
At that moment, I heard a small giggle from the back of the room. I turned to see a guy with long brown hair wearing a black leather jacket, a denim vest with various pins and patches of rock bands, and an AC/DC shirt giggling, but changing it to a cough once he noticed me looking at him.
"Oh come on, Ms. Buckley! Just say your name and your favorite color."
"Um, OK. My name's Robin and my favorite color is green." I said.
" Nice to meet you, Robin. Welcome to Hawkins High. Now, let's open our books to Chapter 1."
I sighed and opened my book. Luckily, band was my next class before lunch. Music is the one class that I could never hate. As I walked in, I saw, yet again, the girl who called me a freak. I rolled my eyes and took a seat in the third row. The guy with long brown hair entered after I took my seat and took a seat on my left side. After a while, more and more students started pouring in and after a girl with her lengthy, black hair in a ponytail arrived, the teacher was right behind her, holding a cup of coffee and a clipboard.
"Good morning, everyone. My name is Mr.Rivera. To start off, I did want you all to introduce yourselves. When I call your name, tell me your favorite music artist at the moment. I'll start: My name is Mr. Rivera and my favorite music artist at the moment is Queen. OK, first name: Caitlin Andrade." Mr. Rivera explained.
For the next few seconds, people had gone around and listed their favorite artists until my turn finally came after a girl named Paige Bailey.
"Hi, I'm Robin Buckley and my favorite artist is Tears For Fears." I said.
After I finished, I heard a brief giggle come from the girl who called me a freak.
"Fuckin' dyke." She whispered to a friend next to her.
Then, I saw that the guy with long brown hair had got up from his seat and walked away to throw away some tissues. On his way down from the third row, he kicked the girl's Hydroflask, which resulted in it getting a dent, falling all over the floor, and wetting her shoes.
"You dented my Hydroflask, you asshole!" She yelled.
He smirked and rolled his eyes at her after taking his seat next to me. I tried so hard not to laugh as I heard her scoff as she tried her best to cope with her wet sneakers.
