"What happened here?" Chief Hill looked over the area. The mall was a complete wreck. Doctors were running this way and that while over half of the police force in the city questioned those who were well enough to talk. Glass was smashed, shelves were knocked over, doors were laying on the ground with their hinges completely torn out, cloths were torn to shreds, blood was splattered this way and that, and everyone who had been unfortunate enough to be at the mall that afternoon was on the ground wounded, unconscious, or close to death.

"Well, sir, remember that person who keeps evading capture?" Officer James asked nervously.

"Of course!" How could he forget the person who had been attacking their city and single-handedly taking down his best men, one by one, over the past year? The person said to be an alien and have wings the color of night itself? He was hard to forget.

"He was here tonight." The officer winced.

"I knew that he was strong, but turn an entire mall upside down in ten minutes strong?" Hill frowned. "This just isn't humanly possible."

"Well, sir, that's what happened. And several of the victims even say that they remember what looked like a red heat-wave ripping through the air, flinging people everywhere and going straight through walls."

"They must have hit their heads pretty hard." Chief Hill noted. "Any casualties?"

"No, sir. Unlike the last few times that he struck, no one has died, though some are very close to death."

"Interesting. He operated differently than normal. I wonder why."

"Why don't you ask him yourself?" A dark voice asked from behind him.

Chief Hill and Officer James spun around to see a person cloaked in shadows and surrounded by a red aura. They couldn't see anything about the person that would enable them to recognize him except for the two huge, black wings attached to his back.

"You're the one who's been attacking the city, aren't you?" The chief shouted, trying to keep his terror hidden. He couldn't believe that all of the rumors were true.

The man chuckled. "That I am, Chief Hill. I am not from around here, as you may have already guessed, but my helper is. I am able to come here for a short amount of time, however, through my helpful friend. When we work together, we are known as Dark Mist."

"If you aren't from here, then where are you from?" Chief Hill motioned for his men to be ready. There were still civilians in the premises.

"I am afraid that I cannot give away all of my secrets today." Dark Mist said. "But until that day when I can, prepare yourself, and all of Earth." There was a flash of light, and the thing was gone.
