Losing your family without knowing if they're dead or just gone hurts. When you know they are no longer there, the mourning phase begins. The first step to continuing is to tell yourself that they are no longer there, that they are gone, just a memory. But if they don't know if your family is really dead, hold on to every spark of hope, no matter how small. You hope they will look for you as you look for them. But when your hope is destroyed, it hurts much more.
Nova had always been afraid of losing one of her brothers and living a life without them. For her, this was unimaginable and she would do anything to prevent it. When she was a young woman living her own life, she realized it was much more difficult without Daryl and Merle. That she was alone without her big brothers. Nova had grown up with comics and had thought that the end of the world would once be an asteroid crashing into the earth and letting it burst into a thousand pieces and not rotting corpses running around and controlled by the urge to eat. Nova grew up as the only girl of the Dixon and was the youngest of them at the age of 20. Her rebellious nature had often taken her to high school in conflicts, brawls and dirty deals.
On the young Zade Rodriguez she seemed extremely attractive, as on many young men of the high school. Early they learned to love each other and finally married after 4 years of relationship. Nova had dropped out of high school when she got pregnant. When her father heard about it, she was supposed to get the beatings off, but Daryl stopped him and a fierce argument ensued. In the heat of battle, Nova raised her hand against her father for the first time and made it clear that she wanted to have this child. Zade's older brother, Adelio, agreed to accept the Dixon. During the birth of her and Zade's daughter there were complications and severe birth injuries, which led to the doctors suspecting that Nova could never give birth to a child again or even become pregnant. For Zade it was no problem. He had their daughter, his brother and his wife. He had everything he could wish for.
Zade didn't think much of Nova's brothers, let alone her father. After 4 years of relationship and finally another 3 years of marriage, Nova finally decided to make a girls' evening with her best friend. It came differently than expected and as Nova is, she did not control her alcohol consumption and slept in the middle of the club in Atlanta with her ex boyfriend. To be honest with her husband, she told him and there was a violent dispute, which was received by the 4 year old Indira. Zade Who had to process the message decided to move back to his brother and take Indira with him. There was an argument because Nova did not want to let her daughter go with Zade and the neighbors called the police.
Daryl and Merle, who heard of it, immediately drove to their sister to go to Zade, but all they saw was their common sister in the patrol car. Zade refused to file a complaint, but Nova did not get her daughter back. So she was back at the beginning and went hunting with Daryl and Merle to distract herself without knowing what was coming and this was not the end...

The idea for this story really haunted my mind for a long time. In German I already have several designs for this story (for example to Vitalina and Alison). This is the completely modified version. It's not a Daryl story, at least not about Nova. Valerio does not exist here and Vitalina's daughter is replaced by Indira, who is Nova's daughter. I am really excited to share this modified version with you! Nova is a Dixon, which is why she will look especially like Daryl in some ways, but also have her own character! We all know how Daryl talks about his father. Nova will hate her father and be angry about what he did to them. She tries to follow Merle's example and like him, to be badass, which doesn't mean she supports his decisions and actions. In this story, some sensitive issues such as abuse of drugs will be present as well as physical and mental abuse, depression and other mental problems. Who knows the Walking dead also knows that this story will contain a large amount of death, blood and curses, intimate scenes and other sensitive things.
I am well aware that "Marie" is often used as a faceclaim and some of the faceclaims occurring here are often used for The Walking Dead. I would like to add that Daniel Sherman will later get a role in this story, even though he plays in Fear The Walking Dead. So if you have a problem with it and still read it, it's not my responsibility.
BUT! I want to say that this story doesn't seem like a Rick story at the beginning. I try to build it up slowly and realistically. Rick finally loses his wife and what happens to Nova and her ex husband remains a secret for the time being. The fact is, Nova just came out of a marriage that she, like herself admits, has spanked all alone. This topic will also play a role for the time being. Rick and Nova have to face some demons and leave some things behind to settle down together.
I don't own The Walking Dead or the original characters or storylines. I only own Nova Dixon, Indira Dixon, Zade and Adelio Rodriguez, Asher Walker, Verena Smith, the other OC and their specific storylines.
To explain the confusion, at the age of 14, Nova and Zade came together. When Nova was 18 she left school because she became pregnant. In the same year she married Zade, so also at 18, 3 years later when she cheated on him she was 21 years old and Indira 4 years old. This story starts a year later. So Nova will be 22 years old at the beginning of the story and Indira 5 years old. At the end of the story, Nova will be in her early 30s and Indira will be a young teenager. I am aware that Nova and Rick will have a small age difference, but I think that should not be a big problem, because Nova is now considered to be of age in the USA.
