The Bloody Shadow
Centuries ago, in another existence, there was a mountain. On this mountain lived two beings, Ko and Roma. Their life was solitary, confined on the top of this mountain surrounded by steep cliffs and their sheer faces. To anyone's knowledge they were two of a kind, they didn't know where they came from or how they got to the peak, just that they had to rely on each other to survive. Their first memories were of gathering rubble to eat, seeing as there were no other forms of nourishment this high up other than the snow.
Ko stared into the sky every night, looking to the stars with questions, and praying to the moon for answers. until one day he heard a reply. It was in the form of lightning and thunder. When it struck he heard her, the moon speaking his name. Ko! He shivered and glanced at Roma to see if she shared his experience, but she rested on.
"Ko." It struck again.
"What? What do you wish of me?" he muttered.
"Go." he heard her crackle in the distance.
Ko immediately was drawn off of the cliff, sliding down the long slope. He came to a splash somewhere on an offshoot of the mountain. He was surround by tall green towers leaning too and fro in the wind, some even lining the mountain. As he gazed in awe at the towers he saw it came to him that he'd left his partner behind. In a fit of anxiety he began to climb the tower nearest to the mountain. When he reached the top he realized he was still too far to even see his home.
"Curse you!" he shouted at the sky "You stole her from me! You are no goddess by a foul devil!"
BOOM! The thunder cracked as lightning illuminated the tree he stood upon. It cast him high and higher yet until he could see his love again. As Ko opened his eyes Roma was weeping, staring at his burnt and blackened body. He approached her, arms open to embrace.
"No!" Screamed the thunder, but he didn't listen.
"My sweet..." Ko's voice trailed off as he touched Roma and she turned to ash in his hands. And he wept.
