Kenny's POV

"I don't think traveling alone is a good idea. At least take five warriors or your beta. He's supposed to be your right-hand man," my mom suggested. "If you take him with you, it will silence the elders. They think it would be good for the boy to also find his mate." I just looked at her. It seemed he hadn't told anyone that he had already found his mate and that she was no longer with us. Maybe this was my chance to make things right with him. Some time away from everything would do us both good. He might even find a mate of his own choosing if he wants. "Fine, mother. I will ask him to come with me. If that's all, I'd like to start preparing for my trip, which is in a few hours. Maybe get some sleep too." "Don't get cocky with me, boy. Don't forget that I wiped that ass of yours." Gosh, this woman was impossible. "Thank you, mom. Goodbye." With that, I left the pack house before she could start another topic.

All I needed was a small travel bag with toiletries and maybe some gym clothes and sweatpants. I would buy the rest on the way. Packing would take me less than 10 minutes. I decided to go see Nuzo and talk to him in person. It was a last-minute request, and he might say no. I wanted him to want to come, not just because the alpha commanded him.

"No need to knock, come in, Alpha," Nuzo invited me as if he had been waiting for me. "No, I wasn't waiting for you. I was planning to go see Dean. I guess I can go later. I'll send him a text." He picked up his phone and quickly sent a message, then put it down. "How may I assist you today, Alpha?" I looked at him and didn't respond immediately. The room actually smelled like sex. Did he have a visitor? Had he already moved on? "I came to ask you to come with me on my trip tomorrow. Before you say anything, my mother insisted that I take my right-hand man, which happens to be you." I blurted everything out in one breath. Damn it, what kind of an Alpha was I? I was acting foolish when I was supposed to be superior.

"I would love to come with you. I could use a break from this place. We have a lot to discuss and sort out," he replied, his voice filled with sincerity. I nodded in agreement. At least he agreed.

Next morning...

Nuzo's POV

I woke up the next morning feeling groggy and disoriented. I had overslept and Alpha was waiting outside for me. I hurriedly gathered my bags, locked the house, and got into the car. "Let's do this! Yey,I am so excited!" I said, forcing enthusiasm into my voice, although I knew Alpha could see through my facade. We were headed to Lanesburg, but instead of flying, we had decided to take the road so we could visit packs along the way. Alpha had meticulously planned everything, as usual. "I've already booked the hotels. Unfortunately, our first stop is fully booked, but we managed to secure the presidential suite. The other hotels were able to provide us with separate suites. Make sure to buckle up, this isn't a casual bike ride," Alpha warned.

"Are we back to calling me a boy, Alpha? I am your beta. At least treat me with the respect worthy of a beta," I told Kenneth, hoping to remind him of our dynamic. However, he ignored my request. The six-hour drive to Neviva and the three hours at Burge Pack were exhausting. I couldn't wait to take a shower and get some rest.

When we finally arrived at the hotel suite, I was beyond tired and hungry. After Alpha and I silently ate dinner, he opened a bottle of whisky, which I felt was a bad idea considering the long journey we had ahead of us the next day. We ended up finishing two bottles, and my wolf reminded me to slow down. It signaled that it was time to execute our plan, taking advantage of the fact that we were both intoxicated. I excused myself to go to the bathroom, where I had stashed some supplies. Returning, I poured two more cups and then knelt in front of Alpha but not too close to where he was sitting, wearing only my sweatpants.

"What is going Nuzo? Come sit on the couch." I did not answer him, I needed him to get up and stand in front of me. He finished his cup and then came to force me to stand up. He was standing in front of me and he was a bit tipsy. "May I touch you Alpha?" I asked him. He seemed confused by my request. "I do not know what game you are playing but I am not in the mood, I will leave you and go to sleep," his response was that of a man you was no longer impressed. "Please Alpha give me permission and your word. I promise I will get up." "Fine, I give you permission and my word." Dammit I was hoping he will say no. I was cowering out now. My wolf had shut me out so he will not subject himself to such atrocity. That foolish traitor.
