It was the morning after the party, I was slowly walking to breakfast as I saw Adrian walk up to me.

"Morning, m'lady." He said. "Sleep well?"

I smiled slightly, "I slept fine"

He smiled back, "That's good, walk with me?" He asked politely

I nodded as I stood there for a moment, admiring his features. I loved how his eyes were slightly a lighter color than his hair. He looked perfect.

Adrian raised an eyebrow, "If you keep undressing me with your eyes I'm gonna catch a cold"

I was flustered, that wasn't what I was doing at all. I let out a small laugh as I was blushing, "Don't flatter yourself, Adrian. That's not what I was doing"

Adrian smirked and laughed, "Whatever you say, love"

I looked at him "What are we waiting for? Let's go," I said, laughing

He laughed, "Ok, you're the boss"

The walk to breakfast went by fast, we were talking about random stuff , we decided it was best to not walk into breakfast together especially since our houses were rivals, and also, so rumors don't go flying, literally.

Adrian decided to be the one who stayed back a little and let me go first.

"I'll see you later?" I said looking at him before I walked in.

"You better" he said with a smirk plastered on his face

I laughed at his response as I walked over to the Gryffindor table and sat between Hermione and Elizabeth.

Elizabeth looked at me, concerned. "What are you laughing at? Do we need to put you in a mental institution?" She asked, which caused Ron and Harry to erupt in laughter.

I rolled my eyes, "No, but maybe I should put you in one instead"

I looked over to Ron and Harry, who were in tears of laughter from our snarky remarks we were making towards to each other.

Ron picked up a piece of food off his plate and started eating it when Harry started mocking me and Eli's conversation.

Ron then started choking on the food because he started laughing once again, which made me burst out the ugliest, and loudest laugh I had ever done.

After I was done laughing I saw Adrian looking over at us from the Slytherin table with a slight grin on his face.

I felt my face heating up from the embarrassment of him hearing me laugh like that. I looked over to my friends, who were still laughing and excused myself from the table. As I was walking out, I could feel Adrian's eyes burning holes  into my back the whole time.

Once I was out of the Great Hall I decided to take a walk around the Castle, taking everything in when I feel the presence of someone else. I turn around and see Adrian.

"Hey, Stranger" he said with a grin "What were you and those weasels laughing about"

I lightly slap him on the shoulder, "Don't, and I repeat don't call them weasels, if anything you're a weasel"

He placed a finger under my chin making sure he could see my eyes when he said, "Do you really think that sweetheart?"

I blushed a bit and shifted, as I was nervous. "Y-yes," I stuttered.

"Keep telling yourself that" Adrian said with a satisfied look on his face

I felt my cheeks burn even more, but I didn't break eye contact. "Adrian, you may be sure of yourself now, but just wait. I'll surprise you," I asserted, my voice stronger than before.

"Getting confident are we?" He said with a smirk on his face. He drug his finger down my neck leaving that burning sensation from his touch on my neck as he turned and walked away.

Standing there stunned by what happened, I lightly touched my neck where he had just touched, when I saw my friends coming my way from breakfast. I didn't even realize breakfast was finished.

"Hey girl, did you miss us?" Hermione said

"Yeah, I just went for a stroll around the castle just to get a feel of it, you know?" I said shrugging my shoulders

"We need to head to potions so we aren't late" she exclaimed, already walking that way

As we walked into class, I already felt the professor giving me a hateful glare. I looked at Eli and whispered, "What did I do to piss him off?"

Eli shrugged "I don't know"

We looked at the seating chart that was written on the chalkboard, I saw that I was supposed to be sitting next to Adrian. I went to take my seat and Adrian was already sitting in the seat beside mine.

I just sat down in my seat, looking to the front of the classroom, not wanting to make it obvious we even know each other. My friends would kill me. I'm not supposed to be friends with a slytherin, especially since I'm in Gryffindor.

I pulled my potions book out of my bag as Professor Snape started calling attendance. I was one of the first names he called.

"Here," I spoke loud enough for him to hear me.

I felt the professor give me another hateful glare, I sighed and looked around the classroom. It seemed as if he was only giving Eli, Harry, and I those hateful glares. I wondered why he seemed to hate us so much. Could it be because of our fathers? Remus mentioned that he didn't like them.

I decided to not give in to that thought. Class began, and as usual, Snape's lessons were as tedious as they were intimidating. He stalked around the room, his eyes always seeming to find Me, Eli's, or Harry's. It was hard to concentrate on the potion bubbling in front of me, a mixture that was supposed to turn from a murky green to a vibrant blue.

Adrian's presence next to me didn't make things easier. We were friends in secret, a bond formed over late-night chats and secret conversations. But the house rivalry was real, and it was dangerous to be seen as too close to a Slytherin.

Adrian was quiet, his focus on the potion in front of him. I could feel the tension between us. We were both aware of the eyes on us, watching for any signs of friendship.

Suddenly, my potion changed color, but not to the vibrant blue it was supposed to be. It was a deep purple. Snape, noticing the change, immediately swooped over to our table, a smirk on his face. "Ten points from Gryffindor," he said, his gaze lingering on me for a moment longer before moving on.

I felt a mix of anger and embarrassment. But when I glanced at Adrian, I saw a flicker of sympathy in his eyes. It was clear; we were in this together, house rivalry or not. We would have to put up with this whether we liked it or not.

Adrian looked at me, "You need some help?" He asked.

I nodded "Please," I said quietly hoping that no one heard me.

Adrian nodded and helped me fix my potion and figure out where I went wrong. After a little while we finally finished it.

"Thank you," I said, smiling a little bit.

Adrian nodded.

"No problem," Adrian replied, returning my smile.

His help had saved me from further embarrassment, and I felt a wave of gratitude within me.

Snape passed by the table and looked at the potion and looked at Adrian, "10 points to Slytherin for helping out a classmate"

The rest of the class passed without another incident, and when the bell finally rang we packed our bags in silence. Despite our different houses, we had a similar shared understanding.

Later that night, I found a note slipped under my dormitory door. It was from Adrian, offering to help me study for potions. I smiled at the gesture, realizing that this secret friendship might not be so bad after all.
