In a 1987 interview, Harrison said that the recording was inspired by the Fleetwood Mac song "Albatross". "At the time 'Albatross' had been released, what we were drawn to on it was the guitar sound. So we said, 'Let's do something similar to 'Albatross.' It never really sounded like Fleetwood Mac... but that was the origin."
