It's your usual routine time, the afternoon with everyone cooped up in the living room. Everybody was bored, and wanted to go 'ghost hunting' on a stupid app. Ron was excited, though he had three visible tiny ghosts surrounding him, he thought it would be hilarious that the app was faking ghosts.
Hunter downloaded it and moved the camera toward different locations. Although the ghosts weren't real, Mike jokingly punched the air to see if the ghosts were there. Mostly everyone was surprised at how good the editing was but didn't look thoroughly.
"Guys, wouldn't it be more fun at a graveyard?" Ron suggested.
"That's.. a bit too far." Jemar shook his head.
"Honestly.. I'm down for it." Barkev agreed.
"But it's fuckin sketchy." Jerick scratched his head.
"It's skeptical, but come on! Not like we actually won't find anything." Jayden attempted to assure the group.
"I'm a demon also, so we're fine." Kobe nodded, pointing to Mike too.
Ron's smile grew, merrily standing on the sofa. "Then it's settled!"
...
Throughout the day, everyone arranged lighting and weapons to be prepared. They ate their lunch and took off out of the house. A handful of the idiots were eager to search but the rest were nervous. They squeezed into a car, driving out to the graveyard. Ron pressed his face against his hand, gazing out the window. He was second-guessing his choices.
It was relaxing and smooth in the car but suddenly, a figure approached Ron's window. It startled him badly, provoking him to panic when it rapidly sprinted. He was trying to alert the others but he felt his throat tighten. His reaction was delayed, but when he turned his head back.. nothing.
He reasoned it was his brain messing with him, but deep down.. he understood this trip wasn't right. Ron wanted to leave the road to go back home but what difference would that make? He might start seeing that again at home too. He didn't want to make a big deal of it, he shoved his feelings aside and looked out the window again.
Ron was sure he would see it again but not worrying. It didn't appear again. He was relieved when they reached the yard. Everyone got out of the car, stretching for a moment before they wandered into the graveyard. It was nothing of the ordinary, just average objects.
Ron glimpses another tree materializing out of nowhere, behind the group. He made up his mind, just tell them already!! He exclaimed in his head. He didn't dare to do so, but he found himself idiotic for not speaking anything. He follows the group but saw something strange.. a gut feeling advising him to run off?
He shuffled around, quietly stepping away from the group. When he was far enough for them to not pay attention, he took his opportunity to bolt out of the yard. He knew this was the alarming time to be doing this, but everything and everyone around him was so suspicious that he couldn't figure out if he was right or wrong.
Ron encountered the group nearby the entrance, in fear. He was perplexed, checking back and forth between the groups. Although he approached them, they were terrified to enter.
"Dude, what happened?" Ron was distancing himself from them.
"No seriously, our car disappeared!" Mike huddled.
"Wait what? Don't be so stupid." Ron turns his head towards the entryway, the car remaining.
"The car is right there, are you guys just pussies?" He pointed out to the car.
"Don't fucking play with us." Jayden clasped his nailed bat to Ron.
Ron backed up, convinced that it was probably the incorrect group.
"Hey- Hey- Put the bat down, I..It's me guys, am I a fucking joke.?" He stammered, stressed out.
"No, why are they two of you?"
"Two of me? You guys gotta be-"
Ron was stunned by.. himself? He surrendered and placed his hands up, terrified. A sound was loudly ringing in his ears, his head aches whilst he curled into a ball. His surroundings didn't matter anymore. He gripped his hair, tugging it and screaming in agony.
It was cruel to him, the pain only kept growing. He sniffled while he continued to thrash. His heart was pounding crazy, it was like something consuming his fear.
A soft hand on his shoulder made him turn quickly, his eyes swelled from sobbing badly. Everyone's here? They were concerned.? Ron pondered.
"Geez dude, what happened??" Jimbo raised Ron.
"Yeah, in the middle of a graveyard?" Kobe skeptically questioned.
"No- I guess?.." He softly uttered, fumbling his fingers.
"Well I'm starving, let's get going." Jemar nudged Hunter.
"Of course you are." Barkev cackled.
"Alright let's go then." Jerick signaled, everyone hopped inside the car and they drove.
Ron felt foolish for acknowledging those ghosts in the yard but it was nerve-racking. The rest seemed to agree that it wasn't all bad, though Ron couldn't say the same. He couldn't help but squeeze his legs against his chest, feeling so miserable and exhausted.
Everything else went as smoothly, they stopped by a restaurant to catch food and leave to go back home for the day. Ron eased down afterward, looking out at the window once again before noticing the figure hiding behind a bush and disappearing.
Ron dismissed it, and they reached home and did their things.
Sometimes Ron wonders if the dark figure is still lurking around for him..
