The Beginning of an Ending

You were a Luitenant for your squad for 5 years now. You have always felt you could do better than just be a Luientenant. At the time, you were under shepards guidance. He was like a father figure to you after your father had died from cancer.

You were sitting in the lounge one day playing cards with the rest of your comrades. Shepard walks in with a smile and some files in his hand.

"Y/n, can you come to my office please?" Shepard asks. "Sure." you said confused. The rest of the squad "ooo-ed".

"Oh shut it." you said playfully.

As you were walking to his office he seemed happy and sad somehow. When you arrived, you sat down in one of the two chairs infront of his desk. You didn't know why but you always liked the shiny gold plate on the front of his desk that said "SHEPARD".

"So what's up?"

"Well, as you know I sent out your file to other task forces to see if anyone needed help." He said casually.

"Yes? Did you hear back from any yet or have I been declined from all of them." You said bluntly.

"Actually, quite the opposite. More than half accepted but, I wanted to talk to you because I found one that was perfect for you and thought you might want to have a look. It's task force 141. They have some of the best soldiers I've seen. I feel you would fit in perfectly there. Here, take a look.

He handed you the file. The front was labled "Task Force 141". You opened the file and the read through the first page.

"Captain Price huh? Looks like he's been there for a while. You friends with him?" you asked him.

"Yes we've been friends for a long time now. I've sent many of my people over there." He said proudly. "I want you to be the next. You're great at what you do! They need another sniper. They only have one which is, ghost." he said.

You flipped through the pages until you found his profile. As you were reading through you found that he was a good sniper but better in hand to hand combat. Your face dropped a little when you saw his kill count. It was a couple hundred more than you. You were impressed.

"Ah, I see you found his kill count. You might have some competition now eh?" He chuckled.

"Yeah I guess so. WAIT WHAT THE HELL?! Why is bro so tall..." You said shocked.

"Oh yeah he's a tall one. Oh hey, flip through a couple more and try and find Konig. He's going to be your partner for the most part if you decide to join." He said.

You spoke fluent German so you figured he was German. As you flipped through a couple more pages you found his profile. And sure enough he was, but thank god he spoke English as well that might've been a little hard. As you kept reading through his profile, you leaned back into the chair trying to get a little more comfortable.

"You know, these chairs kind of uncomfortable, you should get better ones." you said with a little attitude.

"I swear to God if one more person says there uncomfortable I'm going to nuke this place." he said a little mad.

"Damn, ok well do you mind if I take these back to my room? And also if I do accept, which I do, what day do I leave?" you said a little chuckly.

"Good! Well in that case you leave around 10 o'clock tommorrow. And I don't care go shower up and get some rest."

You stood up to give him a hug goodnight. It was kind of a routine of yours. This hug was a bit longer since you won't see him for a little while.

You walked out of his office looking back before you shut the door. You walked towards the edge of the railing since his office was upstairs. You were looking down at your squad who were drinking some beer and laughing. You let out a little giggle to yourself thinking it would be a minute until you get to see them again.

"Hey you guys! I got invited to go to task force 141. It'll be a minute til I get to see you guys. I'll come down to say goodnight after I'm done showering." You said excitedly but, a little sad.

They most of them replied with and "ok" but one of them replied differently.

"Damn bitch you really leaving us? Who the hell are we going to steal money from now?" he said laughing.

"Oh fuck off. I'll be back in a few."

You started walking towards your room on the second floor. As soon as you opened your door you layed the files down on your desk and plopped down on your bed for a moment. About 5 minutes later you got up and got a set of night clothes, your towel, and other shower essentials and made your way to the shower room. You were so lucky there was a boys room and girls room. It made you feel more comfortable.

As you made your way into the shower room you hear someone in there already. You were guessing it was Katie. You hadn't seen her with the rest of the group earlier so it made sense. As you unclothed and set your stuff out, you hear the other shower turn off. Katie was humming a familiar tune but you couldn't think of what it was.

You turned on the shower and waited a minute for the water to get warm. You stepped in the shower and sank into the warmth of the water hugging your body. You grabbed your shampoo and lathered it into your scalp. You rinsed it out watching the bubbles go down the drain.

You wrapped up your shower and was getting dried off thinking Katie left. But then you heard her still humming that familiar tune that sounded like something you heard when you were little. You were getting dressed and was combing your hair.

"Hey Katie, what's the name of the song your humming?" you asked causally.

"Oh it's called Somewhere Over the Rainbow it's from the movie The Wisard of Oz, it's one of my favorites." She said happily.

"Hm I think I've heard of that one. Is it good?" You asked.

"Mhm I watched it all the time as a kid. We should watch it sometime. Well, after you get back from your mission of course." She said with a smile.

"Wait, how do you know about that?" You asked confused.

"I overheard you and the other guys talking about it. So how long are you going to be gone for?" She asked.

"Oh yeah, I kind of forgot this place is right by the lounge. I have no idea when I'm getting back though. Hopefully less than a week though. I'll miss you guys." you said calmly.

"Me too girl. Me too." She said looking at me.

I gave her a hug and told her I'll write to her if anything badass happens.

After that, we both headed out the shower room and into the lounge again. I said my goodnights to everyone and started to head upstairs to my room. Once I was settling down in my room, I grabbed the files I left on my desk and started to go through them each. I spent a while on Konig knowing that he was my partner. Apparently he was super shy and didn't talk a lot. But My god he was tall as fuck. He was 6'10 like was he a damn giraffe disguised as a person?

You set down the files after going through all of them. They all seemed pretty chill for the most part. Hopefully that's true though. You got comfortbale in your bed and slowly fell asleep.

Authors Notes!!- So from here on out I'm not going to capitalize the first letter after the quotation marks cause it's annyoying.
