Two weeks from now is the Kentucky derby, and I am the jockey of a very frisky horse, Guardian, or his show name, "Guardian Angel". My family has raised him from a colt, and trained him with the most experienced trainers in the country. My name is McKinley, McKinley Newland, I'm not the perfect jockey but I'll have to do for now! Guardian is a pure black, stallion Quarter horse. He is a very jumpy, and fidgety horse, but sweet and gentle, a gentle giant as we call him.. I started to ride him when he was old enough and trained enough for me to jump on. Guardian tried to get me off (he had never had a kid on his back) but i ended up being smart enough to control him and stay on. Also, I go to a school that was pretty much made for people that absolutely love horses. SCHS, Solit County High. my best friends name is Hana, she goes to another school, her and a few other kids are bussed over to another county.
But we see each other everyday, save Sundays. Hana goes to church and i have to go to trap shooting, out at the Sportsman's Club. It is a league for our school.
......................................................"Dad, what do I do if he does This!?!?!?!" I said as Guardian was hopping frantically around in circles and being a maniac.
"Oh, well at that point he obviously wants you to get off," My dad answered, "But, you will not get off, you will back him up and jump back into the breeze."
So, I tried that and what did he do?\
He just started bucking.
"Well, so much for that, dad!" I yelled trying to stay on.
"Try again," he laughed.
So I tried again and this time, it did work for about 2 seconds.
"DAD!" I yelled very frustrated with him and the horse.
"Easy there," He coaxed the horse. "Try again, but take a deep breath first."
I did it again, and this time Guardian relaxed and flew right back into the breeze we were in the middle of.
"Thank you, dad." I said knowing he would yell at me if I didn't. We were breezing through the field and my mom came out, scared Guardian, and he stopped right in his tracks. I flipped right over the saddle, landed on his neck, and fell forward. He jumped more, and I was on the ground, he ran across the arena. He is funny, because after he throws a rider off, he runs up to them and is like 'why in the world are you on the ground???' Oh horses.A/N
So how is the first chapter?? I don't really know if I'm going to continue this book, so it's up to you guys!!!!
