the party was loud and it reeked of beer as soon as jacey walked into the house. she scrunched her nose as she walked in, eyes scanning for her boyfriend, cole. her eyes brighten as she sees him standing next to the backyard door, his friends surrounding him.
"cole!" she says as she walks toward him. he turns around and his eyes lock with jacey's, a smile immediately spawning on his face. he grins as he walks toward her as well, his arms out to pick her up and give her a spin. jacey laughs as he does so, and cole let's her down slowly as he kisses the top of her head.
"happy birthday baby," jacey says as she goes on her tippy toes to give him a peck on the cheek.
"thank you sweetie," he replies as a dimple appears on his cheek.
"i'm sorry i couldn't come see you earlier. you know, with work and stuff" jacey frowns as she looks up at him, guilt evident in her face.
"it's okay baby, i'm glad you're here now," he says as he smiles and puts an arm around her
"jacey, cole!" they both heard a voice behind them call. it was jason, cole's friend, and the owner of the house. they both walked up to him and where all of his other friends are.
"how are you liking this party i threw for you, man," jason asks as he punches cole's shoulder playfully.
"its sick bro, thanks again," cole says.
"i'm glad dude. you two want a drink? i can get y'all something," he says as he points toward the counter behind him.
"nah its alright," cole says
"thanks for offering" jacey adds with a smile.
"alright, catch y'all later" he says as he walks away. cole turns toward jacey.
"what do you want to do," he asks, looking down at her.
"actually, i was hoping we could get out of here?" jacey asks, a sly small on her face as she plays with the button on cole's letterman jacket.
"of course baby. let's go," cole says as he grabs her hand and walks out of the house. they both get into cole's car and he starts the engine.
"let's go to my place. i've got something for you," jacey says as he reverses out of the driveway.
"is that so? now you got me excited jace," cole says as he looks at her, a glint in his eye. jacey surpresses a smile as she looks out the window. cole puts a hand on her thigh as he always does when he drives. jacey was only wearing a thin dress so she could feel his cold rings on her skin. they pull into her driveway.
"is no one home?" cole asks.
"my parents are out of town for the weekend," jacey says. cole raises an eyebrow at her and jacey laughs as she shoves him playfully.
"come inside," she says as she opens the door. they both walk up the stairs into her room. cole sits on her bed as jacey goes into her closet, pulling out a big box.
"this is for you" jacey says as she hands the box to cole, sitting on the bed next to him.
"aw thank you babe, you didn't have to," he says as he kisses her temple
"i wanted to. open it," jacey urges. cole obliged as he gently takes the tape off of the wrapping paper, careful not to rip it. it gets the box out and opens it, and his eyes go wide as he sees what's inside. he grabs it out and holds it in his hands. jacey bites her lip in excitement of his reaction.
"is- is this a canon camera?" he asks.
"i know you love photography and you don't have a camera so i thought i'd get you one" jacey says. cole's eyes almost tear up as he puts it back in the box and hugs jacey forcefully. this takes jacey aback as she falls onto the bed.
