Isabella was in a pure state of panic. She laid on her shower floor staring at her new tail. Isabella turned off the running water and began to drag herself out of the shower; leaving a trail of water behind her. She grabbed a white cotton towel and anxiously dried her tail. Nothing seemed to be happening to her large blue tail. Isabella reached up to the counter to grab her phone. Immediately she dialed Sabrina's number Sabrina answered on the first beat.

"Sabrina something is really really wrong with me. I took a shower and now I have this big blue-"

"Tail?" Sabrina responded sounding just as panicked.

"Yeah." Isabella replied terrified.'

"The exact thing happened to me when I took a shower now. Bells this is insane I mean it has to do with that creepy cavern right?" Sabrina stammered.

Isabella thought back to the cavern. It felt so magical but so wrong when she stepped in the water. "Definitely. I mean you felt it too right? It felt like nothing I had ever felt before." Isabella said recalling the strange feelings.

"Yeah. Come to my house ASAP we need to talk about this." Sabrina said urgently.

Isabella hung up and began to plug in her hairdryer. She aimed it towards her tail and began drying. Then she felt her legs once again with a flash of light. Isabella cried in relief and began to get up to go to Sabrina's house.

She grabbed her cell phone and began on her way. Sabrina's house wasn't far from hers it was only about a half a mile walk. As Isabella was walking she got a glance of the time; it was 1:30 and Koa was probably waiting. She felt a sense of guilt for leaving him. I mean its not like she could surf if she sprouted a gigantic tail. But, she wanted to know more about Koa. Isabella hoped she would see him again. He had a certain enchanting smile that made her want to smile too.

As Isabella continued her walk to Sabrina's house, her mind raced with a mix of curiosity and concern. She couldn't shake off the bewildering transformation she had experienced in the shower. The sight of her tail shimmering with iridescent scales played over and over in her mind, fueling a flurry of questions. What did this mean for her future? How would she navigate her newfound existence as a mermaid? And most importantly, what would Sabrina make of it all?

Arriving at Sabrina's house, Isabella took a deep breath to calm her nerves. She knocked on the door, her heart pounding in anticipation. Just moments later, Sabrina swung open the door.

"Come in we can go to my bedroom." Sabrina guided Isabella to her room up the large stairs.

Sabrina's house was decorated with cheesy beach paintings and quotes and baskets of sea shells. Isabella had always felt a sense of awe visiting.

Sabrina ushered Isabella inside, leading her to her cozy bedroom adorned with seashells and surf-inspired decor. They sat on Sabrina's bed, their thoughts racing as they tried to process the situation.

"What happened to us in that cavern?" Isabella pondered aloud, her brows furrowed with concern. "And why did we both transform into mermaids?"

Sabrina leaned back on her pillow "God it all sounds so insane. But, maybe this won't be forever. For now, we definitely should avoid water. And we need to stick together."

Isabella nodded her head in agreement "We need to keep this a secret. We can't tell anyone, promise?"

"Of course. We'll get through this." A surge of gratitude passed over Sabrina as she knew Isabella was there with her to explore this new change.

A loud knock sounded on Sabrina's room door.
"Hey, honey can I come in?" Sabrina's mom's soft voice came through the door.

"Yeah come in."

Sabrina's mom walked in with a disconcerting frown on her face; as if she had just seen a ghost.

"I just wanted to let you know that I don't want you girls surfing anytime soon. Today another local drowned when swimming."

Isabella knew this was the 4th drowning in one week. She couldn't help but feel something was terribly off.

"Oh, my god. Yeah me and Bells definitely won't be getting near the waters soon." Sabrina's voice was etched with concern.

"Ok well, I just wanted to let you ladies know to be safe." Sabrina's mom closed the door.

"Man, this week is strange, so far we have experienced a shark attack and we transformed into mermaids. And now people are drowning out of nowhere." Sabrina remarked.

Isabella nodded in agreement, her mind racing with the peculiar events that had unfolded. "Something doesn't feel right," she voiced her concern. "We need to find out what's happening in this town, and why all these strange occurrences are taking place."

Sabrina's eyes lit up with determination. "You're right, Bells. We can't just sit back and let these things happen. Let's investigate, uncover the truth, and find a way to stop whatever is causing all this chaos."
