Olivia was 5 years old and lived in California, where it was summer and warm all the time. Olivia had one dream, to see snow for the first time in her life. Olivia loved watching the news with her dad. In December, there were so many weather reports on how winter was on the east coast. She was always amazed, how it looked and she was so curious how it formed. Her dad told her that snow forms when the air is colder then a certain temperature and in the clouds the rain turns into little snowflakes, and when the cloud gets too heavy it lets all the snow out, which makes it snow. He told her that it doesn't snow here because it is always warm here. Olivia's birthday is January 17. As her Christmas and birthday present they decided to fly to New Jersey to their cousins house for Christmas. They were asked by their cousins, Abby and Steve, to stay over for Christmas and new years one year. They asked again this year and they said yes. Their flight was in exactly a month, on December 19. Nicole didn't know anything because they wanted it to be a surprise. For the next 3 weeks they stayed quiet and for 3 weeks Olivia kept going and going on about how she wanted to see and feel the snow.
Three days before their flight, they started packing the baggage. Olivia came in and she said, "Mommy, daddy where are you guys going?" "We are going somewhere for Christmas, it is a surprise." the dad, Michael, said. "Am I coming to or am I staying home?" Olivia asked. "Oh no, you are coming with us sweetie." the mom, Olivia, said. "Yay!" Olivia exclaimed. Olivia got up and went to help Olivia pack. It came to the day of take off. Olivia asked how they would get to the surprise. Michael answered "By a airplane." This would be Olivia's first time on an airplane. She was ecstatic. Olivia's aunt drove them to the airport, she was asking her if she was excited to go on a surprise trip. When they got to the airport Olivia jumped out of the car ready to in they airplane. Her mom explained that they had to go through security and different places to get onto the airplane. She was surprised that they would have to wait. Two hours later they were done and ready to pass the gates, Olivia hugged her aunt and stood ready to get on the plane. Everyone hugged and Olivia's aunt said "Have a safe and happy trip and holiday, happy new years as well."
They talked for a little and passed the gates. They waited a while in the waiting lounge and then they called their flight to start boarding. When they got on the plane, Olivia was looking all around. When everybody was seated and ready for take-off, the plane started slowly moving. Olivia was excited, the flight attendant said that their flight would take about 6 hours. One hour into the flight mom, asked Olivia how she was feeling. Olivia said she was happy and it felt weird. They both smiled. After the flight they got their luggage and their cousins were waiting for them. The greeted each other and Olivia didn't know what to do. They each hugged her and told her that they were her aunt and uncle. Outside, it wasn't snowing but it was cold. "It's so cold outside!" Olivia said. "Y-yes your right, it's v-very cold outside dear." said mom. A few days later, it was Christmas eve. Olivia's parents woke up and went outside, they realized it was snowing! Oh, how happy they were. A white a snowy Christmas eve. At around 10 o'clock, Olivia woke up. She didn't know what was awaiting her. Her mom dressed her up nice and warm and went down stairs.
