Valerie's Pov:

"Now that's a friend you definitely want to keep around, Valerie" Mother hinted, she's not very fond of my friends, Laura and Tiffany. She doesn't ever notice Laura, but Tiffany, she does not like Tiffany. And to be quite honest I don't fancy her myself. However, my Father first introduced me to her, you see Tiffany is My Father's best friend's daughter.

"Yes Mother, I am aware" I ironically agreed, she bobbed her head, "Lunch is almost ready" she mentioned before taking off. A huge exhale left my lips, i felt my lungs calm down and my heart reached a normal rhythm. Why the hell would Darrin do that? I don't know how to feel. I appreciate the gesture, but it's a bit too sweet of her. I hope she's not catching feelings.

Nobodies Pov:

Valerie continued to overthink for the rest of the day. She contemplated a thousand situations and fake scenarios in her head. She also explained to her sister Patty what had occurred. Her older sister Carmen did visit later that night. However, Valerie and Patricia had no interest in speaking with their older sister. Carmen is the firstborn, spoiled, too confident, and stubborn.

As the middle child, Valerie's parents were always strict with her, where she was going, who she was going with, and why. She had no curfew which is odd, and they never really paid attention to what she wears. Patricia being the youngest had everything at her feet, although she's not spoiled like Carmen, she still gets anything she wants, but it comes with a price.

Her parents never picked on Carmen, she was a straight-A student that always obeyed. The reason for their family's wealth is a top secret that no one seems to be able to come across. It's a very confusing situation in the Hayes household. Nonetheless, the girls have all turned out to be fine... Or at least that's what mask they choose to wear.

Over at Darrin's, it was quiet and sad. Something in the atmosphere just wasn't sitting right. Darrin hadn't been able to fully process the way Valerie left her house this noon. She was trying to reassure herself that everything is fine, everything will be fine... Right? The girl had almost chewed off every last piece of her nail from stress.

She sat on the corner of her bed, without moving, for almost the rest of the day. She would only get up to go use the restroom or hydrate herself. At some point, her phone buzzed. She leaped forward and snatched it, as soon as her phone screen turned on she saw a message. A message from Max.

Max- Hey, Britney and I are
gonna go grab some slushies.
Wanna tag along??

Darrin- I'm not feeling it
Max, Sorry.

Max- Is everything alright?
I can drop Brit off and come
over instead...

Darrin- No Max. Don't do
that, that's not nice, have
fun for me ok?

Max- Fine, I'll respect your
decision. But only cause you
sound like you need space
tonight.

With that said Darrin exited from the chat and went straight to shut her phone off. She wanted to be left alone in peace, with no texts or calls from anyone. She laid down and shut her eyes, hoping she would fall asleep and wake up tomorrow. She didn't want to deal with this anymore, even though she knew she wouldn't be able to escape it that easily.

The next day, Darrin woke up exactly where she lay. She groaned and refused to get up and start her day, she didn't want to accomplish anything, all she wished for was to stay in her bed. But Darrin is stronger than that, and she never lets anything get in the way of her schedule. She managed to get up and began getting ready as well.

However, she carried a form of stress, it was running through her stomach and itching on the back of her neck, almost eating her alive. She decided to briefly ignore it for now and put it aside, she was sweating out of nowhere and her breathing wasn't normal. This was causing her to overthink once again. 'It's her isn't it?' she pondered.

'It's her fault i feel this way' she was convinced, she kept blaming Valerie for her mental state. Darrin hated running after girls. That's the last thing she would do. She tried to stay away from situations like these, where the other girl is just playing around. Darrin catches feelings easily, and she calls it "the curse". She despises this.

Soon enough Darrin was ready and out the door, heading to school. She was extremely late this time around, so late that the first period had already started 10 minutes ago. She walked up to the school's entrance to find nobody, except the bodyguards that were keeping the two schools divided, and separating teens from the opposite academy coming together.

Darrin walked into class, causing all the students to turn and stare at her. "Darrin..." the teacher started. "You're late, do you have a permission slip?" she asked while taking off her glasses. "No" Darrin answered numbly. "Well, you need one honey. Don't forget next time" The teacher kindly discarded Darrin's mistake and proceeded with her lesson.

The rest of the day was draining Darrin. Max kept trying to pry her open but had no luck. "You can't hide from me" Max stomped her foot to the ground. "I am though" Darrin sarcastically fired back. "The fuck is wrong with you??" Max started to get annoyed as they walked out of school to go home for the day.

As soon as Darrin stepped foot outside, she saw someone she did not want to see. "Shit" Darrin spat under her breath while staring across the street. "That's your answer? Shit!?" Max came up behind her. "I need to go. I'll text you" Darrin muttered while taking off at a fast speed. "No! You get back here!" Max started to run after she created a scene.

Everyone turned their heads, including the students across the street. "Max i swear to god" Darrin hissed in a low tone, slightly looking over her shoulder to catch Valerie goggling precisely at her. "You will not do this again, i have had enough of this hide and seek!" Max continued to roar. Darrin could only think about one thing, what does Valerie presume from all of this?
