Today, Lunar had decided they wouldn't go into school today, but if they did go to school the day would've went faster or, well at least it seemed to go faster for them.
If the day could be over faster, that means more time to see Olive, more time to read with Olive aswell. Lunar decided that they wanted to get Olive a little something as celebration for being friends for about two to three days.
Would Olive find that weird? Lunar thought about it.
Is it a bit clingy?
Lunar took a moment to think about it, they didn't wanna come off as too clingy or annoying to Olive, but they did want to show their appreciation of their friendship in some sort of form. Instead of giving Olive a gift, they'll give Olive a hug and try to find a book that they really like!
They do seem to talk about their interest in books, their choices are interesting to say the least, but who was Lunar to judge a book by its cover?
Lunar waited until the time was right and they grabbed the book they got for Olive, or at least thought it was just right for Olive considering their interests. Lunar started to head towards the tree and Olive was already there, waiting for Lunar, with a Daisy in their paws.
Lunar walked up to the tree carefully, before making Olive aware of their presence.
"Hey.. Olive."
"Lunar! Oh my dog, you're finally here!! H-Here! I got y-you this flower!"
Olive looked away quickly as to not show how happy they were about giving the flower to Lunar, but their tail said otherwise because you could literally hear it wagging!
Lunar just smiled at Olive for their kind gesture before taking the flower, Lunar really liked the flower. It was pretty, just something about the colors made them calm.
Lunar pulled Olive into a hug that wasn't so surprising, they didn't wanna scare Olive or anything like that. Does Olive like surprise hugs? I should probably ask.
Olive melted into the hug once more, but hugged Lunar back, tightly but not too tight to the point they were literally squeezing them. Lunar pulled away from the hug before sitting down on the grass underneath the tree. Olive sat besides them.
Lunar started up a conversation, sliding the book they got for Olive under Olives paw.
" Hey .. Olive? Could you ... promise me .. that .. some day ... we'll stargaze together? "
" I p-promise! Stargazing would b-be amazing with you! "
Just then, Olive felt a cold, hard cover under their paw, Olive was about to jump in fear but Olive looked at Lunar, then looked at their paw.
Underneath their paw, was a book. How could Olive had not realized Lunar had slipped it under their paw? Was that conversation a distraction? If so that's so clever of them! But, was the promise about stargazing genuine?
Olive picked up the book quickly, moving close to Lunar to share the book with them.
" W-Wow!! You know e-exactly what I like Lunar, you really pay attention to w-when i ramble? "
" Who wouldn't? .. "
Lunar smiled softly at Olive before they both started reading together, flipping the pages, accidentally touching paws when flipping pages and apologizing, scanning pages, as Olive and Lunar read on and on, it started to get dark.
They were both so lost in the reading, they didn't even notice how dark it had gotten, they finally stopped at the page they agreed to stop on before looking at the sky, seeing the dark night.
" I should be .. heading .. home now Olive.. "
" M-Me too.. "
" Same page tomorrow? "
" Same page tomorrow ? "
Lunar and Olive both looked at each other before smiling at each other, they both were thinking the same thing! Lunar even laughed about a tiny bit with Olive before getting up and dusting themself off. They helped Olive up before embracing Olive once more.
Olive was melting into this hug, Olive loved affection of all sort so it's not really much of a surprise at how much they enjoy hugs from Lunar, but they swore this was different. Their heart would be racing fast, like it was doing circles, backflips, all kinds of stuff! This couldn't have just been from Olive loving Lunars affection too much, could it?
Lunar finally pulled away from the hug. That dreaded feeling of guilt, and need came back to Olive again, they just wanted to hug Lunar, just a little longer.
Lunar picked up their flower Olive had given them, Olive picked up the book Lunar had given to them. They both said their goodbyes to each other, agreeing to continue on reading the book together after school, hugging once more before going back home.
As Olive was home, sitting on their bed already ready for bed, they looked at that piece of hair they had cut from lunars hair when Lunar was distracted. Olive had some tape and kept Lunars hair in a plastic bag as to be sure nothing would happen.
Olive had that stuff stored and tucked away in their bag, who would find it? It's in their bag anyways, Olive curled up into their bed with their blanket on, dozing off shortly after.
As Lunar slept, they had a weird nightmare again about Olive, they were standing at the tree, waiting for Olive, when they suddenly had felt a cold object piercing their back, they woke up in a cold sweat from that nightmare.
They wondered why they kept having such odd nightmares, and why these nightmares described Olive like this. Lunar knew or thought that Olive was a good dog.
But Lunar remembered that these are just nightmares, after all Lunar knew in their heart Olive was a good dog and would never do anything to even hurt them. They were friends, what friend hurts another friend?
Lunar finally slept again after having a glass of milk just to calm themselves down so they could get some rest in for school.
