I forgot that he found out where I lived when he dragged me back to headquarters over a year ago, and this was not the time to go looking for me. He roughly took off his mask and revealed his absolutely furious visage, which looked like he was going to tear me to shreds.
"Do you even KNOW what you're putting me through?! Of course I couldn't find Miles, and by then I had to go back to check-" Miguel had glanced down for a second, then suddenly stopped his tirade. He broke out in a blush, and only then did I realize what he saw me wearing. I was dumbstruck for a good ten seconds, then bolted to my bathroom to change as fast as I could. That might have peaked as the most embarrassing moment of my life.
"Miguel! Why would you just barge in like that?! What if I was naked?! I basically am though..." I screamed through the thin walls of my apartment, scrambling to find something decent to put on while this bear of a man was waiting inside my small bedroom.
"Well, uh, how else was I supposed to find you? *Clears throat* So, what I was saying. After I couldn't even find that stupid kid, then you go and disappear on me too? Especially after what happened last time. Spider Eye. If this happens one more time, I'll-" I strategically cut off his threat, before he can get angrier, and say what's really on his mind. Believe me, I didn't want to know what was on his mind.
"Okay, Squidward. Sorry I messed up-" I quickly covered my mouth in shock, realizing my mistake a little too late. It was my favourite nickname whenever I got angry at him, but I forgot he was in the room as well.
"What did you just call me? You're really toeing the line today, aren't you? You know I could completely kick you off the team, right? And- DON'T interrupt me." I was about to say something again, but he cut me off before I could get anything in.
"You really need to learn some respect for me. After all, I'm your boss. But for some reason, you just can't find it in you to actually listen to a word I say. I'm trying my best to keep the spider verse together, and all you can do is GET IN MY WAY! I'm sick and tired of you, and because of your actions today, you're suspended from the team until further notice. Hand in your watch." He finished his rant with the scariest tone I had ever heard him use, and held out his hand as if gesturing for something. I was at a loss, I mean, I knew I wasn't able to work for a week anyway, but not like this. I can't let go of my watch, even if it's the last thing I do.
"I- I... I'm sorry, I can't." I caught a glimpse of his darkening glare. "But- But! I can tell you about why I couldn't move earlier, and I can let you do scientific research on it too! Just... please don't kick me off the team," I was on the verge of tears almost immediately, but of course not real ones. I was simply trying my best to use my natural puppy eyes when they were needed. I gladly noticed he was taking my offer into consideration; I knew he was more of a scientist than a jerk at heart!
"Fine, but the condition is that from now on, you update me on everything you know about your spider abilities, and that when I tell you I need them, you use them without hesitation. I don't care about your sympathy for other people, the multiverse is your top priority from now on. Understood?"
"Well, yes to the others, but I can't for the second one. Buuut that comes with telling you about my abilities! So, if we make this deal, do you also agree on the adjusted terms?" I put out my hand to shake on it, but it got ignored. He looked straight at me, furrowing his brows as my hand drooped back down to my side. "Why should I agree to your adjusted terms? This seems more like it would be your loss, so I'm only making a compromise for you."
"Well, maybe yes technically, but I would be using it whenever you say, but it can't exactly be all the time. Anyway, do you agree or not? I'll do all that, fine, just tell me yes or no." He considered for a moment, then slowly nodded. "Okay, good. Now, let me explain to you how my abilities work. They're kind of weird in a sense, like they're normal in most aspects of Spider people, but I think I might be the only one with side effects every time I use them. Whenever I use my normal Spider Vision, I'm mostly fine. Sometimes, there can be side effects, but they're not nearly as bad as when I use my enhanced Spider Vision. Like, for my regular Spider Vision, once in a while I might just not be able to use my Spider Senses for a few hours or even less.
