They looked around to see fifteen teenagers that also looked like high school students.

"Ohhh... More people have arrived." Angie stated.

"Huh?" Kaede questioned.

"Did you all get chased by that monster, too!?" Kaito asked.

"O-Oh, yeah..." Kaede answered.

"What... are they? What do they want from us?" Ryoma questioned.

"Do you want me to check on what's happening?" Kokichi asked.

"You can't! It's too dangerous out there!" Tenko warned.

"It's likely that monster still lurks nearby..." Kiyo implied.

"W-Wait!" Kaede yelled. "Who are you guys...? And why am I here-"

"And that makes 17." Rantaro interrupted her.

"What?" Kaede questioned.

"I'm talking about us. There are 17 of us- all high schoolers." Rantaro demonstrated. "What do you think that means?" he asked, crossing his arms.

"Oh right. Didn't answer your question. I can give you my name." he grinned. "It's Rantaro Amami. Let's leave it at that for now."

"Huh? Um... okay." Kaede awkwardly answered.

"Anyway, why does it matter if there are 17 of us? There might be more coming." Kaito suggested.

"Nah, I think this is all of us. If this is what I think it is, anyway." Rantaro nonchalantly replied.

"...If this is what you think it is?" Maki questioned.

"What, you some kinda fuckin' know-it-all? If you know somethin', spit it out!" Miu shouted.

It was at that moment... A sudden voice suddenly echoed throughout the gym.

"Okayyyyy, quiet everyone! Shimmy down, shimmy down!" they announced.

"No, no, no. It's "simmer down." they corrected.

"Huh? Who's that? Where are they?" Tsumugi questioned.

Then all of a sudden, the monster machines popped up in front of all of the students.

"KYAHAHAHAHAHA! THANKS FOR BEARING WITH US!" they all shouted.

"AAAAAAHHHH!" Tsumugi screamed.

"Damn it! There are more monsters! We're surrounded!" Kaito yelled.

"These aren't monsters. They're Exisals!" the red one clarified.

"They're highly mobile, bipedal weapons platforms." the yellow one described.

"Weapons!?" Shuichi panicked.
