Contrition

XII

More than a couple of hours passed, Rain and Sky could no longer deny that they were in the past. At least they had each other and it was relieving. Rain wiped his tears and sighs in frustration before he spoke, “I seriously don’t know what am I doing wrong?! Why is P'Phayu so against me?!” 

“Calm down, throwing tantrums won’t lead you anywhere" Sky told Rain who frowned and rolled his eyes, Sky shook his head seeing Rain so restless. 

“What if it’s too late?! What if P’Phayu decided to move to another state like last time?! Sky!! I can’t go through it again! Please!” Rain cries and grabs Sky’s hand in desperation. 

“Rain, you need to calm down and think properly before doing something that might end up making things worse… please, you don’t want to lose Phee this time, right?” Sky reminded Rain who finally became quiet and nodded in pain.

“Good boy!” Sky whispers as he pats Rain’s head, Rain looks at his hands feeling upset but then suddenly looks at Sky in curiosity, “What about you? How come you and P’Phai aren’t together yet?! If I remember correctly, by now you both were supposed to get married, right?” 

Sky became silent, he looked at Rain and hesitated to answer Rain. Rain knew something was wrong and gently held Sky’s hand, “Sky, how did you and P’Phai end up together? It wasn’t because of love for sure, you used to despise P’Phai… you can tell me..”

Sky looked into Rain’s eyes and he knew he could tell Rain everything without being judged, Sky took a deep breath and spoke, “It started with misunderstanding…. We…”

An hour later, Rain looks at Sky with open mouth. He can’t believe everything he heard and spoke in anticipation, “P’Phai will never do it to Sky! My brother might play around but he will never try to ruin anyone’s life, my brother adores you, Sky! Trust me..”

“Rain…Rain.. I know, though very late but I know that it was all a misunderstanding…” Sky told Rain who sighs in relief. Sky looks back at Rain and continues, “But now…. Now I am not sure if I should even try to approach P’Phai, Rain…”

“Huh? Why do you think so?!” Rain asked in confusion, he thought since all misunderstanding was cleared so Sky shouldn’t be upset with PraPai any longer. Sky rubs his face in frustration and replies 

“I’m scared, I’m so scared! What if I end up hurting him emotionally again? P’Phai deserve the best and I’m afraid I will make his life miserable again…” Sky was feeling insecure and Rain can understand why.

PraPai and Sky didn’t have the best relationship, Rain saw them arguing and fighting all the time. Rain couldn't even convince himself that Sky and PraPai might not end up with the same fate.  

“You feel the same too, right?” Sky asked with a hurtful chuckle when saw how quiet Rain was. The younger omega tried to deny it but couldn’t come up with any words.

“It’s okay, I feel fucked up. He’s so happy and carefree that I feel like I might end up destroying his happiness…. I can’t forgive myself if end up being cause of P’Phai’s sadness…” Sky whispered as he looks at the distance.

Rain silently pulls Sky into a hug and pats older omega’s back, “Why the hell are we here? Seeing them alive hurts more… Maybe this is our Karma? To watch them in front of us but able to do nothing.. ” 

Sky looks at Rain and sighs in despair, the younger omega’s words made Sky feel that it was really their karma. Both stayed in each other’s comfort and Sky finally spoke, “Does that mean we should really move on?” 

“I don’t know…….” Rain replies and again there was a gloomy silence before Rain spoke again in a serious voice, “Let’s not give up without trying? If we are back to the past then let’s try to amend our relations. We can at least give it a try…”
