This is exactly where I need to be. I think to myself as I park my car. I grab my bag from the passenger seat and head up the slight hill to the large lawn of Reynolda Manor. There is absolutely no one here. I make my way to the far side across from where I parked. I spread my blanket out and grab my book from my bag. I have a perfect view of the mansion as well as the large trees surrounding the entire place. I turn on Pandora on my phone to drown out the loud humming coming from a bus waiting in the parking lot. Once I'm comfortable lying down on my stomach I begin reading the new book I picked up before coming here.
More and more people show up as I flip through the pages of the novel. I sit up and turn the music off, there's way too many embarrassing songs playing and I don't feel like being judged. Not today.I lye back down again to be immersed into the novel. I can't help but compare myself to the main character. She's on a journey to find herself after a horrible divorce. I know my break up with Collin was nowhere near a divorce, but I definitely identify with the pain she's describing. This book may not have been the best idea since it's making me think of him so much. I came here to get some peace and a change of scenery other than my bedroom. The loft is great, but I've been cooped up in there way too much lately. I need to find a job or a hobby to occupy my time this school year.
"Watch out!" I hear someone yell.
I quickly look up in time to dodge the Frisbee spiraling towards me. It lands beside me on the blanket.
"Sorry about that." The guy says to me.
My eyes trail upwards to meet his smiling face. His short blonde hair blowing from the slight breeze.
"Oh, no big deal" I return the smile while handing him the plastic disc.
"I'm Will" he sticks out his hand to shake mine.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Kate." I say and shake his hand.
