One Last Time

Sorry yall I was in a writing slump 😭

(Narrator POV)

Ballister's eyes flutter open to a sight of Ambrosius shaving while also looking for something, a cheeky smile followed by a quiet giggle follow and catch Ambrosius's attention. "You're awake now?" Abrosius asks, "Mhm". "You don't have to stare when you wake up, it's a little creepy." Ambrosius jokes. "I don't think you'd mind if I was a little creepy with you, hm?" Ballister teases. Ambrosius replies, "I don't even know what that means but I'll let it slide cause it's you." Ballister just gives a nod and asks his boyfriend again to confirm, or, try to get a confirmation out of "So, you promised we're going somewhere cool today...and you still can't tell me where yet?". "Right" The taller blonde replies. A sigh escapes Ballister's lips as he applies some chapstick. Ambrosius laughs and finishes shaving, then starts to dress himself for the 'date' they have planned. 

Ballister and Ambrosius have entered the train station and entered one of the carts. They stand, both having one hand hold the other person's and the other hand holding onto to the train pole. Ballister used to like people watching or just watching through windows in general when he was younger, and even though he doesn't do it as much, he still likes too. When a tall woman moved from the seat at one of the stops, Ballister sits and takes the opportunity to watch outside. Ambrosius doesn't seem to mind and patiently wait for them to arrive at the date spot. A couple minutes pass and Ballister's face drops a little when they pass by Nimona's memorial alter. He thinks of all the times they had together and how she always brightened up his day, even when he didn't want her too. It made him think and regret all the times he shut her out, wishing he could apologize for every time he did something wrong, Ambrosuis lightly taps his shoulder. "Bal? It's time to get off", Ballister nods in response. The two get off and walk a bit, when the navigation on Ambrosius's phone says, your less than a mile away, he makes Ballister cover his eyes as they arrive at the 'special spot' Ambrosius promised to take his boyfriend to. 

Ballister is now permitted to open his eyes and sees a beautiful garden, birds chirping, a pond with colorful koi fish, lively flowers, a setting right out of a movie, a feeling sinks in as Ballister looks at this beautiful garden. It feels like deja vu, but, Ballister knows he's been here. Suddenly, it hits him, Him and Ambrosius's first kiss. The garden on the last night of the year, the two fourteen year old knights in their traditional new years outfits, sparklers in their hands, they sat in the garden and at the countdown, Ambrosius kissed Ballister for the first time. All of the feelings rush back to Ballister from that day, once he's out of his trance, he turns and hugs Ambrosius. "I totally forgot about this place..." "I know, that's why I thought I should bring you back here....I still feel horrible about what I did to you, but I just want to let you know...I love you as much as I did when I first brought you here." Ballister could've melted right that second, but something hinted at him that breaking down cause of how sweet his boyfriend is wouldn't be super romantic or fitting for the moment. 

They set out a picnic table and lay together, bathing in the sun while reminiscing their younger days. They stay out for hours, and at exactly midnight, Ambrosius kisses Ballister. Ballister feels all of the feelings he first felt in the same place many years ago.
