The third time George saw Dream, it wasn't accidental. Karl, his closest friend in the skating club, had come to him all red faced and panicking, asking if he could take a few free tickets off his hands because he had a date with a cute guy named Sapnap and who was George to refuse a good friend? Thinking back, he's actually quite bad at refusing things.
Anyway, they were free tickets to go to some 'Clay Café', but the catch was that there were two. Which meant George had to scrape the bottom of the barrel to find a different friend to take with him. He thought about asking Niki, but found out from Puffy she was busy, then thought about asking Wilbur and realized he was on tour with his band (George's bad on that one), and so he was left with one option.
His nemesis, his mortal enemy, the villain to his hero, Dream. First, he asked the guy to dinner (As not-super unfriendly enemies) and now it was to paint some stupid clay things because some dumb tickets expired that day. People were going to start getting the wrong idea.
Karl was an idiot for thinking George had any other friends in the first place, so he blamed him for the whole awkward situation.
--------------------------------------------
"Dream, are you busy later?" George had asked when Dream came in after George's practice, geared up and ready for his own. George refused to admit that up close, he looked hot in all his padding."No, why?" Dream scrunched up his eyebrows in that stupid (Cute) way of his.
"Would you come to a Clay Café with me?" George bit his lip nervously, not quite meeting Dream's eyes. It was weird that he was asking his rival to do stuff with, wasn't it? Dream was obviously going to say no, spit in his face, and then saunter off to his own practice.
"Sure, why not." Dream had said casually, as if them hanging out together wasn't the weirdest thing since having live pigeon shooting as an olympic sport.
As Dream walked away humming to himself, George stared, completely baffled by the sheer amount of confidence that man had. How had he even managed to stay so unphased by the whole stupid scenario?
George left and spent the rest of the time before he had to go helplessly trying to pick out a cute outfit and contemplating his entire existence.
--------------------------------------------
That led to George standing just outside the Clay Café's doors, waiting for Dream. He hoped he looked casual, in a plain white T-shirt and a pair of ripped jeans, scrolling through his phone so as to not look socially awkward."Hey, ready to go in?" Dream's calm voice rang into George's ears, making him look up from a funny Twitter thread.
"Yup." George found himself nodding, walking through into the warm establishment. Dream had held the door for him, like a true gentleman. George laughed internally at the thought. Dream? A gentleman? Not in a million years.
Dream would probably be the type to throw rocks at an abandoned puppy or say trashy words to a grandma, not to kiss babies and help the elderly cross the road.
Once again, Dream ended up looking around in awe of his surroundings. George was beginning to wonder if the guy ever went anywhere other than his own home and the rink. Still, his judgemental nature did not stop him from appreciating the tan walls and rows of shelves filled with any and every tiny statue you could think of to paint.
The whole place gave off a welcoming vibe, that was for certain. Maybe it was the muted greens, browns and pinks, or even the carefully arranged supplies. It all looked very neat and tidy, the orderly fashion that George craved everything could come in.
"This place looks neat." Dream breathed, turning himself towards the woman manning the store.
George followed behind, pulling the tickets out of his pocket and into his hands. They were supposed to give them a 90% discount on one figurine each, which in George's opinion made paying the extra 10% worth it.
