Alex!" I ran through the hall of my house searching for my silly brother. He stole my wallet to spend the money on one of his stupid games. I went up the stairs hastily almost tripping on the last step as I hurried on to get to the attic. He had turned that place into his 'man cave' when he barely had a single hair under his armpits! To be fair he is only fourteen.

I burst the door open expecting to see him laundering the money away by buying the ugliest avatars known to man; I was right by the way but he wasn't alone. A man around 20 years old was sitting next to him in a red bean bag staring at me warmly.

Lord! He was beautiful! He had clear grey eyes accompanied with dark brown hair. He also had a single piercing in his left ear which sparkled when the sun shone onto it.

"UGH!" Alex exclaimed when he lost the game. "What happened dude?"

"Sorry." The man smiled at him before ruffling his hair playfully. Alex blew away the strands that were covering his eyes with a pout. I could tell he really liked this man though because Alex never allows anyone to touch his hair.

"Whatever. Do you want to see the pool!" Alex beamed at the stranger, pretty pleased when he said yes to his invitation. Who the heck was this good looking man? Most importantly, what is he doing in my house?

Taylor! Come down sweetie! We have guests!" My mother chirped from downstairs. I ran down after changing my pale blue dress to a bright yellow romper that snatched at my waist.

I practically ran to the swimming pool area at the east garden of the house to see that man again. And wow...he was criminally attractive.

I tried to walk past him without oogling at him but I'm sure I did a pretty lame job because he snickered before being splashed with water by Alex who was having the time of his life

I tried to walk past him without oogling at him but I'm sure I did a pretty lame job because he snickered before being splashed with water by Alex who was having the time of his life.

The man propped Alex up on his shoulders for a while only to dunk him under the water later. My parents were sitting at the poolside table laughing with another couple when I arrived by their side. They introduced me joyfully and asked me to take a seat beside them. From the introductions I learned that they were business partners with the surname Rodriguez.

That was interesting and all, but I wanted to know why they were visiting so suddenly. The boys got out of the pool laughing at whatever joke they made together and sat with us at the table, soaking up the cushions in the process.

"Now that we are all here, I think it's fit to discuss the matter at hand. The union between David and Taylor." Mr Rodriguez spoke firmly making my hands shake with fury. What union? I barely know the guy. Also, I'm only 18! Even the pretty man looked shocked; I'm assuming he is David then. My parents were just smiling like dumb people at this preposterous news...so they had already agreed. Without even asking me they agreed.

"There is nothing to discuss, the date has already been settled." My father chimed in, reassuring Mr Rodriguez.

I couldn't just sit there quietly with my hands between my legs! "There is everything to discuss! I want to go to college. This marriage was not even mentioned to me until now. Do you think I am an object?"

Mr Rodriguez didn't look too happy with my comment. The man's stare is lethal! My parents looked disappointed in me but I couldn't care less. Alex just looked as clueless as ever.

The silence was broken by David clearing his throat. "Father may I talk to Ms. Taylor in private for a moment?" He spoke so formally that some would think he was talking to a business associate instead of his father.

His scary father gave him the green light and David held my hand and led me towards the foyer. I'm so glad he can't feel my pulse through my hand because my heart is beating embarrassingly fast.

He stopped in front of my mother's beloved duck pond before looking at me sternly. Was he offended because I talked back to his father?

"I will allow you to go to college." He stated plainly. I was going anyway. His consent meant nothing to me. "I will give you all the freedom you desire once we are married but fighting against your father and mine is not the way to go."

Was he warning me against my own father? Seriously, today is one big joke. A joke that changed my life forever.

I did get married to David after all. No matter how many times I protested or cried they married me off anyway. David did keep his promise despite his father's constant threats. He sent me off to college under the guise of a honeymoon. He even helped me start out my business plan during my second year. His only condition was that I came home during the weekends. I could live with that.

During my third year our parents started getting suspicious so we made up the excuse that we liked the city too much and would like to spend another year.
I don't know whether they believed us or not but they couldn't do anything even if they wanted to. We were already married. Wherever we spent our time was none of their business.

I finally graduated.
