This chapter is dedicated to hey3rch for getting me out of my writing slump and becoming a friend to me.

NIKOLAI ANASTAS POV

Brianna sat beside me on the bed, cringing as I stitched the wound caused by the deranged woman.
Bria is my adopted daughter. She is a beautiful dark skinned girl with curly hair and dark brown eyes that almost appear black. She is about 17 I think.

"Boss, if the woman did this to you why did you bring her to the mansion?" She asked me suspiciously.

"Bria there is no one here, you can call me by name."

She rolled her eyes at my lame attempt to change the subject. "Ok, Nico, don't try to change the subject." I smiled mockingly at her sass. It was the exact same sass that led me to make her the heir to my mafia.

"There is something interesting about her...something I can't explain."

"Is it because she's pretty?" Bria asked raising one of her thick eyebrows.

I glared at her before scowling. "Go to bed. You have training in the morning." I grumbled before turning away from her.
I couldn't see her but I just knew she stuck her tongue out at me.

"If you ever point your tongue at me again I'll cut it off." I threatened her pointlessly. She scoffed before stomping out of my room furiously. I knew she was heading towards the deranged woman's room. At least she'll finally find a friend and leave me alone.

They have one thing in common already. They have both lost their screws. Sleep came to me easily helping me escape the pain of the gaping hole punctured through my flesh. That woman is stronger than she looks.

Morning came and it was time to train the younger assassins. I honestly dreaded the job. They were way too eager and fussy over the smallest of things. I sighed before entering the room, already forming a headache by the screams I heard through the door.

When I entered, I was shocked to find the deranged woman there holding Bria protectively in her arms while the older assassins threw taunts at my fighter.

"SHUT UP!" My voice echoed through the hall causing everyone to remain silent at once. The expression on my face was cold and distant as I scanned through the commotion.
"What are you morons even doing here? DOES THIS LOOK LIKE THE DAMN WEST WING TO YOU?"

They all shook their heads in response. I took a glance at Bria who looked angry as usual and the woman who was still injured but still had the guts to fend off trained assassins.

"GET OUT!" They all scrambled out of the hall leaving Bria, the woman and I alone in the huge hall.

Knowing who must have started the fight in the first place I grabbed Bria harshly by the arm and pulled her to her feet. I was so angry that I didn't even want to talk to her considering the harsh words that may fly out of my mouth on impulse.

"I-"

"Don't-!" I took a breath waiting for the anger to subside a bit before I continued. I have warned her multiple times to stop provoking those animals but she never listens. She thinks she's a one man army for God's sake!
The woman was still sitting on the floor eyeing me strangely. Was it curiosity or fear? I was too upset to care.
I was so lost in thought that I didn't even realize Bria had started to cry until I heard her quiet sobbing.

"DON'T CRY!" I shouted, not knowing how else to react. Her weakness affects me sometimes but showing her too much affection will only harm her in the long run. She is the princess and this business is not for the weak.
