My name is Fridous Adunbarin. I'm 23 years old. I finished school last year and got a job immediately. I'm currently working in a marketing company as the manager director.

My family's income is spent mostly on my heart condition which leaves us struggling. I am the only child and my parents can't afford to lose me. My parents have always told me that " If you don't mind,it doesn't matter." I have it imprinted in my mind that I'm a blessing and not a disappointment.

Today is Monday and I am preparing for work. I take a cab arrive at the company. As I enter, everybody seems disorganized. I clear my throat, 'Good morning ma', they said at once. Good morning everyone, so what is happening here, why the disorderliness. 'The company has a new owner and he is currently shaking the tables' Selim my assistant said. What! How can such happen overnight and I was not even informed. She's is in the office, you should go see her.

I knocked on the door to the CEO's office and I entered after hearing a voice. I was shocked when I saw my old school nemesis, I quickly composed myself and greeted her ' I heard you asked of me, ma'. She laughed ' I know you are shocked to see me and you just need to know that I am in charge and will continue to be in charge. You are dismissed. Oh! I forgot you will now be my assistant,be back in 20 minutes.

I went out immediately,I was so angry that I almost lost my cool. I stormed into my office, my assistant came to ask 'Why are you angry? I have never seen you angry since when I've known you , or do you know her?' Yes, I do. She was my classmate in high school and. 'Shouldn't you be happy ' he said. 'She was my worse nightmare, she bullied fellow students and when I approached her to stop, she decided to finish me by always picking on me. I became their only target.

You are one strong woman, you should not have been affected that much, he said. True, but it was depressing to be called disappointment, failure, Pamilekun(make me cry), bad luck and what hurt the most was ' Your parents must be in grief after God gave them a child like you ' I broke into tears. Stop crying, she must have called you such because she was jealous, what a despicable human she is' he comforted me. There was nothing to be jealous about, I promoted by small margins and have a heart condition that makes my family struggle to survive.

You have an heart condition? he asked to confirm what he heard. Doesn't it explain me always getting sick and asking for sick leaves every month?, I asked. 'Yes, it does. I am just trying to process what you just said' he replied. There was silence for a minute before he came around and said 'I know this is just part of the things you have endured but I will always be here if you need a shoulder to lean on 'he said with lots of love in his eyes. Thanks, I appreciate your concern. He wanted to say another thing but I stopped him and told him I have to pack my stuff as I'm now the assistant of the CEO How dare she do this to you , he said angrily. No need to get angry, l will see you after work, I said and walked out of the office thinking of what awaited me in Sade's office.

'Do you want to kill me, this coffee is so bitter' Linda barked at me. You told me to not add sugar, I replied. 'Can't you use your sense' she shouted. But... Shut up your mouth and get me a better coffee, she said. I rushed out of the office to get another coffee. The remaining working hours of that day was hell. I never felt so frustrated since I was born. Selim offered to take me to the park and I accepted after some minutes of thought.

We arrived at the park after a 10 minutes ride. 'What happened? 'Selim asked. I will answer when you catch me, I replied. We ran for some time before he caught me. 'You have to answer my questions now 'he said. 'Okay, at least let me catch my breath first, I replied. I don't want you to interrupt. Linda is one of those people that hate for no reason,my only offense was standing up against injustice. She's way above me but still not satisfied. 'Do you know why she's trying to make your life miserable? Just try to remember any small detail' I... I.. w..as always given special treatment because of my condition. 'I think that is the problem. ' Are you implying that she tried to be the best in everything so as to get the attention of others? I said. Yes, I think we need to make her feel loved so she can come off your back. 'he replied. How can I go about that?' I said. 'I don't know yet, we will find our way around it' Okay, I have to go home now, message me when you think of something, I replied. 'Don't think too much, you can always depend on me' he said. Okay, bye.

I got home around 6:30pm, I was very tired and decided to sleep without eating. I woke up to my phone ringing, it was Selim calling. Hello ...okay... thanks... I will do it... bye. I felt very hungry after dropping the call and I went to the kitchen to cook two packets of noodles. I decided that I will try my possible best to understand Linda and try to erase the memories of the past.
