I wasn’t knocked out but I was stuck on the floor in shock of what just happened.

I can feel my jaw and my head throbbing like a terrible hangover and there’s still screaming filling the room.
All of it feels filtered out and eventually all I hear is my breathing.

In, out, in, out, in, out.

“Sarah, can you look at me?” There’s a light shining in my eyes and someone shaking me.

Time feels very slow while I try to move, I'm shockingly cold and numb.

No matter how much they yell and shake me I’m just too tired.
All I need is a short nap, then ill figure out what they want.

This is all I think as I lay myself back down and let everything drift away.

When I wake up there's hospital staff outside my door and a nurse typing on his keyboard obnoxiously.

“Oh good, we thought you’d be out a while” He remarks, just barely sparing a glance to me before leaving me to my confusion.

As it does in all hospitals it takes forever for anything to happen and I'm left alone in a freezing room, this leading to me discovering a few things.

There’s an IV in my left arm and some less than ideal tubing in my nether regions, presumably a catheter.

“Ms.Carter, how’re you feeling?” takes me a minute to find an answer, too many things going through my mind.

“I’m alright i suppose” I hesitate a bit, i’m feeling something but i just can’t place it.

“Well that’s good, we have a few things to discuss. You took quite a fall there, gave you a concussion” he explains, it all feels a bit surreal to me.

Leaving the doctors with all too much on my mind, I had to take the bus home.
As close to home it gets anyways.

I’ve got the medication they sent with me as well as my discharge papers; all detailing my unfortunate new circumstances.

There’s a small percentage of people that, uh, issues, after a traumatic brain injury.

Knowing the people I work with do this voluntarily doesn’t help as much as I figured it would, being bound to adult diapers just feels ridiculous at this point.
A bit of sick irony or karma for something.

The next morning was quite miserable, the medical diapers they gave me help with not ruining my sheets completely but when I sat up it leaked everywhere.

Proceeding to clean it up makes me late to my first day back.

It takes a bit to find Ms.Ellis and Marla, they've apparently been helping out with some of the regulars in the kitchen.

Thankfully since I helped with that as a maid I'm not missing any valuable information.

"Sorry I'm late, I had some trouble this morning" I hastily explained, getting my stuff together for the day.

"Oh it's alright, we've been informed of your new condition, don't hesitate to ask for help if you need it"

I know she means well but it's unbearably embarrassing, not to mention the questioning looks from people around me.
