THE NEXT MORNING, you hesitantly walked up to Gojo, unsure whether to ask your teacher the question that was spiraling through your mind.
Fortunately, he walked up to you first, calling your name. "What is up, my dude?" He said in a weird tone of voice.
You cringed at his attempt at being 'down with the kids' and shook your head in disgust. "Gojo-sensei, I wanted to speak with you." You only said, in a firm tone.
It seemed that Gojo could pick up the seriousness in your voice and he nodded, placing a hand at your back, leading you to sit down at the bleachers with him. You felt bad for leaving your classmates to train without you, but this was important.
"Go ahead." His tone had changed significantly, sounding more serious and more like a teacher.
"Well..." You started, unsure how to phrase it. "Yesterday, Tog– I mean Inumaki-san and I were studying together with the stuff you gave us. We came to the field after that and my glasses accidentally fell off."
Gojo wasn't wearing his blindfold today — just his sunglasses — and you could see the way his eyelids widened a fraction at what you said and his gaze shifting to Inumaki who was running around the field energetically.
You continued, acknowledging his expression. "We made really harsh eye-contact, and I was immediately panicked because I was sure he would have–" You paused, wild breaths heaving in your lungs, your eyes splayed wide. The anxiety from last night replayed in your mind and your brows knitted together, tears threatening to spill from your eyes.
Your teacher didn't say anything, which you appreciated, giving you time to compose yourself before you continued.
"But he didn't." You said, with a conclusive tone.
Gojo was silent for a while, and you were scared of what his expression would read if you looked at him. After a while, he exhaled shakily. "Wow." He said. "That's... unexpected."
You nodded, sighing.
"Is it not true that you cannot control your cursed energy?" You nodded again at your teacher's question. "Then why..?" He mumbled to himself, bringing his hand to his chin in thought.
In all honesty, you had a few ideas, but didn't want to get too ahead of yourself in the case that you were completely wrong. You looked at Gojo to see whether any sort of realization or idea would dawn upon him.
He then snapped his fingers. "This calls for a meeting with some smart people!" He exclaimed with a beaming smile.

"SO YOU'RE SAYING that they can control their cursed energy?" Ieiri said, placing a hand on her chin. Her mask was pulled down and she still had her gloves on — a sign that she had just come from a Lab.
Gojo smiled at the question. "Haha, nope!" He said, with a close-eyed smile. "As a matter of fact, I have no clue what happened!"
The others — which consisted of Masamichi Yaga, Ieiri Shoko, and Mei Mei — sighed in frustration, shaking their heads or pinching the bridge of their nose. "What do you know, then?" Yaga asked, with an irritated sigh.
"Nothing." Your teacher just said with a smile.
You stood next to him, awkwardly, fiddling with your fingers, a small pink tint on your ears. They are talking as if I'm not even in the room! You thought, a small bead of sweat forming on your forehead.
Ieiri's voice interrupted your thoughts. "What do you think?" She asked you, your name rolling of her tongue quicker than you could register. Your eyes widened a fraction and you looked at her, acknowledging the intimidating stares from the other sorcerers in the room.
"P-pardon?" You asked, quite bewildered.
"What do you think might be the reason for your cursed technique to not work on Inumaki-kun when otherwise you were unable to control it?"
You pondered her question and stared off into space. "Well, actually I was thinking of some theories..." You started. "Since Inumaki-san and I have been getting closer these days I–"
You were cut off when the fours others' eyebrows raised at your statement. You immediately covered your mouth and corrected yourself.
"Oh god, no ! That's not what I meant at all!" You waved your hands in front of you, a deep red blush crawling onto your face. "I-I mean, we have become study partners and hang out s-sometimes... I guess we are friends."
The thick atmosphere seemed to loosen a little, but you could still tell that the adults were unconvinced with your weak argument. "Hmm." Yaga gestured for you to continue.
"Uh, anyways. I was thinking that Inumaki-san would not be affected because he is close to me." You said, your face turning serious. "I have a feeling that my subconscious automatically switched off my cursed energy output the moment I set eyes on him, in order to protect him."
The answer seemed to float around the room and the adults nodded in acknowledgement. "That is quite a good perception..." Mei said, looking at you through the braid of hair over her face.
You sighed and shook your head. "Though, this is just a theory." You said. "We have no way of knowing whether that will happen all the time or if it was a one-time thing."
That was also something that everyone seemed to agree on.
Well, everyone except Gojo Satoru.
"Hmm... Well, we don't know unless we find out right?!" He exclaimed. You were confused at to what he meant, raising your eyebrows in question at him. "Shoko-chan~ Will you go and bring our beloved Toge-kun?"
The woman didn't seem very pleased with the request, but obliged, sending you a sweet smile before heading out of the door.

fact:
the medusa cursed technique works on any living thing, regardless of the amount of cursed energy they contain. however, if looked through glass, a mirror, et cetera, it will not work — direct sight must be involved.note:
this was not a very romantic chapter, but i think it's necessary for the development of your cursed technique :]
there is a lot of canon divergence and plot devices that i'll be making up hehe (also pls keep in mind i havent been keeping up with the manga, i've only reached up to the culling games and stopped there so if i mix up anything i apologize in advance.. also its been a while since i've picked it up so i might've forgotten a few bits and pieces)
