TAKASHI AKI sat in her bed, contemplating whether to tell her bestfriend eren that she knew who she was texting. obviously she knew! eren had sent her and zaku the screenshot in which she received a message from an unknown number, asking for aki, claiming to be her cousin.

she had to admit, she resisted the urge to roll her eyes.

she was visiting her cousins in japan this summer, in a week, to be exact. particularly, one cousin: keiji akaashi. god, he was so annoying. quiet, nerdy, and into volleyball. the exact kind of guy you found in japanese high schools these days, and it made aki's blood boil. hovering over eren's contact in her imessage app, she paused: if i tell her now, it takes away all the fun for her. having an online friend who you can slowly uncover the identity of, wondering who they are, meeting up... that sounds so fun. i don't want to ruin it for her...

sighing, she came to a decision: she would let eren unveil the identity of this "mystery person" all by herself. however, that all is on one condition: eren shouldn't find out that aki knows.

would it all work out?

AKAASHI FELT WEIRD. why, you ask? he didn't know.

it'd been a few days since he'd first started texting this unknown number person, and he had to say, it was quite fun. so far, he had found out that she was japanese, a second year in high school (just like him!), she lived in tokyo, and that she was a guitarist and a singer. despite being in the music club, however, she was also the manager of the volleyball team, and was quite excited when he told her that he was a part of his volleyball team as well.

but if things were going well in his life (even bokuto had began to control his volume now, it was rare), why did he feel so weird? he couldn't quite place his finger on it.

maybe it's the fact that his cousin, aki, was coming next week, and she was in close contact with kuroo tetsuro, the captain of nekoma's volleyball team. maybe it was the fact that he felt like bokuto-san was constantly hiding something from him. for the past few weeks, he was shrugging it off, but for some odd reason, whenever akaashi would bring up his new friend, bokuto would start to sweat, or something of the sort.

"she lives in tokyo, you know," akaashi said one day, randomly. all of a sudden, he felt bokuto freeze up at his side. "o-oh! is that so? well, that's nice." akaashi frowned, but decided to leave it again. there's so point in pondering over it. with a hum, he pulled out his phone, opened the contact person and decided to text her. it'd been a couple of days since they'd last spoken.

person

person
MYSTERY PERSONNNNN

pedo ??
hmm?

person
je suis have an idea

pedo ??
uh i'm pretty sure
that's not correct
french

person
does it look like i care
about a language about
an emotion that gives me
a migraine everytime i think
about it?

pedo ??
... no.

person
that's what i thought 🙄

person
anyway! back to my idea.
what if we played a game
that's basically like two
truths and a lie BUT there's
a catch?

pedo ??
depends tbh. what's the catch?

person
if you get it wrong...
you have to reveal smth
about yourself.

IMMEDIATLEY AFTER SENDING that message, eren placed her phone down on the desk and groaned. "why did i send that?" she muttered. "now he's gonna think i'm some weird fat lady who's well over fifty and lives in a smelly house full of cats. aki even thinks i text that way." she was so prepared to throw her phone across the room when she received a notification.

pedo ??
... sure, as long as it's
nothing like card details
or address.

with a smirk, she texted him the two truths and a lie...

TAKASHI AKI STARED at the message in front of her, a message from her old friend kuroo, who she used to talk with quite a lot when she first began high school.

but eren didn't need to know that. she didn't need to know that when aki had asked for the instagram, she'd already had it. that kuroo had told her that this whole "wrong number" thing was a huge scheme plotted by kuroo himself and his best friend bokuto (who's close with her cousin keiji as well) to set the two up, as both of them were painfully single. she didn't need to know that infact, aki was asked to be in on the scheme too.

most of all, she didn't need to know that she was crushing on kuroo. the message she received was a huge explanation about the whole thing, the whole plan, which kuroo and bokuto had devised. something that must be hidden from public knowledge, as it had the power to ruin friendships. something that was built on a secret, a secret she was pretty sure akaashi didn't want anybody to know. she was pretty sure he would beat up kuroo and bokuto if he found out that aki had found out.

kuroo 🏐
well, anyway. now that you
know the secret, PROMISE
you won't tell y'all's family
or wtv????

aki!
yeah okay. just tell me
ur plan.

kuroo 🏐
damn! straight to the point,
are we, mama 😏

aki!
jesus! you disgust me.

kuroo 🏐
we can change that, love.
ANYWAYS! the plan was that
when aki joined our school,
and keiji's whole thingy happened,
kou and i just figured that yk
why not set them up???
so i had kenma sneak into her phone
to text her number buddy and it was you,
which made the whole thing MUCH BETTER
AS YOU'RE HIS COUSIN so when he was
whining about forgetting ur number, we slipped
him eren's number and now they're
talking!! just wait till the crush builds up lmao

aki!
and why was i needed in this plan?

kuroo 🏐
we decided to step it up a bit.
see, if you can get eren and kaashi to call each other,
when you go to visit him in tokyo,
it's obvious that she's gonna meet u.
SO, you can get her to his house and they can talk and blah

aki!
wait. thats kinda smart tbh.

kuroo 🏐
stfu!! i am smart 😭

aki!
uh. sure. count me in tho.
