"Okay," I place my novel down on my lap and turn to face my best friend. "Is it an artist I listen to?" I ask, adding to the list of questions I've already asked since we've entered the cab.
Rebecca sighs, clearly growing irritated by my game of Ask-Questions-Until-You-Can-Guess-Whose-Concert-We're-Going-To-See.
"Sort of, you've listened to the artist at some point in your life." She explains in a tone that suggests that there will be no further questioning about the concert.
A thousand watt smile breaks out onto my face as Rebecca's words sink in. Leaning back in my seat, I let out a sigh of content. "Well, if it's someone I've listened to then I'm extremely excited." I state.
Rebecca mutters something under her breath among the lines of "I sure hope so" before she turns her attention to the taxi's window as we travel through the city of Dublin; a silence falling over the two of us.
That silence however, doesn't manage to last for very long.
"Can you believe it?" I set my novel down once again. "We're actually here - in Dublin." I state, reality finally beginning to sink in. The fact that I'm traveling through one of the most beautiful cities I've ever seen, is something that I never would've thought I'd be able to experience - let alone being able to do it with my best friend. After all, I'm just a uni student, trying to make ends meet; traveling isn't something that I should be able to do at this point in my life.
Several minutes later, the cab begins to decrease in acceleration before it stops all together in front of a breathtakingly beautiful building.
The establishment is entirely with large bay windows, giving it this modern aesthetic appeal. Four marble columns line the exterior, stretching up to a balcony located on the second level.
The architecture is absolutely stunning and I find myself staring in awe at the masterpiece in front of me.
"Bloody hell." I hear Rebecca mutter under her breath, seemingly just as surprised as I am.
"I believe this is your stop, ladies." the cabbie states, as if this sight is an everyday occurrence for him.
I momentarily snap out of whatever trance I'm in, but still slightly caught off guard, I slowly open the cab's door; my gaze never shifting from the hotel.
Five minutes later, after the cab driver is long gone, Rebecca and I still find ourselves standing in front of the hotel; luggage in our hands as we marvel further at the sight before us.
"This... is our hotel?" I ask dumbfounded, still not believing that this is where Rebecca plans on us staying for the next several nights.
"Yup." she responds breathlessly.
"Welcome to the Gibson Hotel, ladies." I hear a voice state, somewhere off in the distance. I whip my head to the left at the unrecognized voice and find myself staring at man.
He's relatively young - somewhere in his mid-twenties and he's clad in what looks to be the Gibson Hotel's uniform; I can only assume he's one of the business' bellboys.
My suspicions are confirmed at his next question, "May I take your luggage for you?"
Rebecca nods and hands our luggage off to him before the two of us enter the hotel; still slightly mesmerized by it.
I follow behind my friend, but stay a few steps behind her as she approaches the front desk and handles, what I assume to be, the room situation. It's not long before she's rejoining me once again, this time with two room keys in her hands.
