I pulled out my phone and went on social media to entertain myself. Sadly, I tripped which was highly unlikely since the grounds were very smooth. So my phone did fall and it kinda went into like a coma. Well, it didn’t die but it also wasn’t working so, yeah. A coma it was. I had no idea where I was, where I was going or how to get back. I was stuck and didn’t even know the contacts of my parents since I didn’t call them that frequently so I decided to find someone who would allow me to use social media to trace any info on my parents.
Long story short, I bumped into someone called Chad who was also about my age. He allowed me to use his phone to trace my way back home. That was so generous. So I went home and decided to get to know those at home first, meet their friends and go on like that; that way, I wouldn’t get lost.
When I got home, I saw Luke with his friends that I had met by accident earlier. I asked them to tell me about the other girls in the house or in other words, my female cousins. They all gave me that “What?🤨” face. Then I got scared. One came up to me and said “The girls and us aren’t exactly… How do I put the word, we’re not friends. We don’t chat, we don’t hang, not since we were kids.”
Me: Okay this makes no sense. Why not?
Cousin 1: Some things are better left locked up in the family book.
Me: Well, I’m part of this family so I have the right to know.
Cousin 2: Nevermind. I’ll tell you. This family has so few secrets and a whole lot of nonsense someone needs to clear up.
It’s not that we don’t like to talk to our girl cousins. Rather vice versa
Me: You mean that they don’t like to talk to you right? 🙁
Cousin 2: Yeah. Exactly
Me: But what happened?
Cousin 2: After primary school, most of us went elsewhere to continue our studies. In fact, all except Luke left town. Not that we don’t have good schools here but the adults thought it would be good for us to be separated for sometime so we all went our separate ways. When we came back , all the girls we’re ignoring us. What we think is that perhaps they feel too classy to hang out with us but that’s their problem. We don’t give a damn.
Me: That can’t be. I’m a girl and one thing I know is that I will never do that. There might be more to this story that we think.
Cousin 3: Hmm, you could be right but I’m sticking to what I know. Whatever they might think isn’t worth us getting snubbed or ignored by those arrogant girls we don’t know.
All the guys: Yeah
Me: Kk. See you guys around
Cousin 3: Don’t let them corrupt you!!
Me: I won’t!!!
I didn’t hear but Luke told them “She isn’t like the others” and one of them said “We’ll just have to wait and see”
So I headed for the girls. They were nothing like the guys who always hanged around each other. It’s like they were together but we’re separated. Everyone was doing their own thing.
Me: Hello!
All eyes were on me. One girl stood up and said “Hi!”
Me: I’m Lisa.
Opera: Yeah we know. Girls, she’s with them.
Immediately, everyone rolled their eyes at me. That was a bit mean but I had a mission.
Opera: Anyway, I’m Opera.
Jennifer: I’m Jennifer.
“Willow”, “Natasha”, “Rebecca”, “Isbella”. Isabella and Rebecca are twins. We called them Bella and Becca. Jennifer was much younger than us. While we were all seventeen and over, she was just twelve. However, she was just like us in m terms of behavior. It was so adorable. I smiled at all of them after they introduced themselves.
