When he woke up, Neteyam found himself strapped to a bed of sorts. It was not really as uncomfortable as he had expected it to be; there was even a pillow under his head.
"He's awake–"

"Up his dosage a little, Mccarthy," a firm voice instructed.

Neteyam blinked, mind hazy. He felt a touch in his stomach and began to squirm, trying to back away before his vision clouded again.
"I can't give him any more, sir. We don't know how it could affect his children."

Children? Neteyam shook his head, trying to clear his mind. His vision was blurry, and he had a cramp near the underside of his stomach. He coughed, noticing a mask over his mouth and nose.

"Just keep working," someone else spoke up. "We need to figure out what makes him different while we have him. Quaritch already said he wants him back as soon as he wakes up."

"It's really such a shame that he's so hostile," a soft feminine voice reached his hazy mind. "He's really quite beautiful, isn't he, Judy?"

"I mean, I guess."

Netetam felt someone place a hand on his forehead. It was tiny and gloved. "No fever. He seems calm enough. You can keep the machine going, Mccarthy."

"I wonder how this happened," someone spoke again. A woman. It seemed to be Judy, but Neteyam had no strength to keep his eyes open. "I didn't know na'vi men could carry children."

"No, they can't. Well, Omaticaya specifically cannot. This is likely caused by an abnormality in Jake's avatar," a male voice explained.

Neteyam sniffled quietly, breathing in short, relaxed puffs. He tried to say something, but all that came out was a soft whine.
The hand returned to his forehead. Someone murmured soothing words near his ear, but he could only hear half of them.

"His vitals are good," Mccarthy spoke up, her voice sounding cheerful. Netetam realised it was Judy holding his head.

"Anyone here speak na'vi?" Judy questioned. "His heart rate is picking up. Our guy is going to panic."

Someone snorted, clearly unamused."Don't he ridiculous, Dr Thorne. Who cares about it. I told you to up his dosage."

Judy scoffed, caressing his head. "I told you we can not do that, sir. We already caused enough stress to his body. We can't medicate him."

"Judy is right, sir," Mccarthy spoke up again, worry lacing her voice. "We're not here to harm him."

Neteyam had no idea who 'Sir' was, but he did not seem to be the only male in the room. He blinked his eyes open and spotted a masked figure above him and a bright light behind her. The stranger had kind eyes, which is the first thing he noticed.
Neteyam tried to say something but ended up merely coughing, throat dry.
"It's okay, " Judy hummed. "We won't hurt you."

Neteyam had questions, but he could ask them. He lifted his head, looking down at his stomach, spotting little circular things connected to it. His eyes widened, trying to pull his arms and legs free, but it was useless.

"If he breaks anything, you'll pay for it out of pocket, Dr Thorne," 'Sir' warned before Neteyam heard a door slam.

"Can you hear, lil guy?" A man leaned above him. The first thing Neteyam noticed was that his skin was much darker than the women's. Neteyam frowned. He was speaking na'vi with an accent. Unsure, he nodded.
"Good. My name is Dr. Thomas Cook. We're doing some scans on your pregnancy. But don't worry, we didn't do anything else. Just research."

The doctor waited for a few moments until Neteyam gave a nod, showing he understood.
"Good. Smart guy. We did some research on your condition. Judy, can you lower his dosage? He can't speak."
