The Japanese was too smart for his age. He was literally unbelievably smart. Everyone predicted a bright future for him and a great career as a scientist. But Nishimura Riki didn't want to pursue it. Yes, he has a brilliant mind, but the work of a scientist is not to his liking. He is more interested in creativity. He'd like to take up dancing and painting. Because of the fact that he was always sent to all sorts of competitions where he always took first places and grand prizes, he could not attend these classes. The guy was always being yanked to extra lessons and seminars. As much as he resented it in his head, he had no right to go against his mom. He obeyed her without question and never went against her will. But recently, things had changed. Mom successfully married a korean businessman and they moved to Korea a few months ago. He met his older brother, Sunghoon, who he immediately took a liking to. They were able to find common ground quickly and his brother supported his younger brother's interests. They often went to exhibitions and museums. His parents also arranged for him to go to a prestigious school where Sunghoon also attended. The older one was very happy and promised to help him in everything and also promised his parents to take care of him.
Today, his life may or may not be the same. The school was known for its bright students and awards, graduating some of the smartest students in Korea every year. There were only two thoughts in Riki's mind: "Will it be the same as his old school or will something new and interesting happen? He really wanted to do art, especially drawing. He hoped that here he would be able to develop his abilities instead of sitting behind the cramming of tedious texts. These thoughts accompanied him all the way to school. Through the car window he noticed that the school had very beautiful architecture and it looked like a medieval castle or mansion. Finally they reached and the car stopped right at the entrance of the school. He quickly checked if his appearance was okay and hurried outside.
"Welcome, Riki. We're very happy to welcome you here," says the principal with a big smile. "Here's your guide for the school," the man points to the boy standing next to him. "He'll show you around and answer any questions you have as you get to know the school. I'll leave you two alone."
Mr. Lee headed to his office, and the teenagers were left standing still. At first glance, the young man in front of him looked serious, probably the head of the class. Attractive appearance, a beautiful cat-like eyes, a neat nose and pink lips. Dark shiny hair with a slight tinge of black, more like dark brown than pure black. Ironed uniform, cream-colored leather boots, pants with perfect arrows - dressed so neatly. He looked very good.
"My name is Yang Jungwon, nice to meet you," he makes a ninety degree bow, showing respect to the new student in his class.
"Nice to meet you, Yang Jungwon. My name is Nishimura Riki. You can just call me Niki," the blond boy bowed the same way, even lower than Yang. His parents taught him good manners.
"Oh, you're Sunghoon hyung's brother! I'm really glad you're in our class, Niki," his radiant smile looked so warm and welcoming that it made me feel good. "Come on, we still have to go around the school".
After almost an hour of walking around the school, the boys stopped in one of the corridors with wide windows. Riki was impressed by what he saw. The school was so huge: a lot of classrooms, various clubs and electives, the latest equipment, perfectly arranged classrooms. Everything is very different from Japan. This school really lives up to its status.
"So, have you memorized everything? If you have any questions, ask, I'll try to answer them all," asking him Jungwon.
"No, no questions," answers the younger one.
"That's good," he smiles and thinks for a second, then tenses a little, and his face becomes serious. "I have to warn you. Niki, you'd better be careful. There are some people you shouldn't cross paths with or stumble upon," his words surprised Riki, because he never had a problem in socializing, he always had a great relationship with his classmates. No conflicts and a perfect reputation.
"Hyung, I don't really know what you mean." Niki sweetly tilted his head to the side, a habit he could never get rid of.
"There is one person you better not mess with, and if you see him, you better not even look in his direction. His father is one of the richest men in Korea, he owns the biggest companies and businesses. He's so rich that he gets away with whatever he does. In all my time studying here, I've never once seen anyone tell him off or punish him. He's feared by everyone. I heard once he almost drove a student to suicide, but I'm not sure if it's true. My advice to you is to stay away from him". Riki opens his mouth in surprise and sighs, not knowing what to say. How can a student like that continue to study in school? Does money really matter that much?
"And what's his name?" You have to know dangerous people by sight, or at least by name first.
"Kim Sunoo. I hope you're not stupid and realize what can happen if you cross path with him. Be careful, Niki-a".
"Hyung, I'm sure everything will be fine! Maybe he's not as bad as everyone says he is. Rumors aren't always true".
"Ki, be careful anyway. I don't want anything to happen to you." he smiles softly at him, gently running his hand through the youngers hair.
"Okay, I will be careful and attentive." blushing slightly, he replies.
"Thank you for understanding".
"You're welcome for now. We'll see how it goes." the guys smiled at each other. "Jungwon hyung, I have a favor to ask".
"What is it?"
"Could you show me the entrance to the rooftop and leave me alone there?". Won rounded his eyes and was very much surprised.
"What for?" asks him Jungwon.
"I want to find my own place where I can have some privacy and also get some fresh air. I used to eat lunch on the roof at my last school. I'd like to go there anytime. Don't worry, I won't coz any problems, I promise."
"Hmm... All right..." he squinted his eyes, but still led the newcomer to the rooftop.
They walked in silence through the endless corridors of the school. Finally, the older led him to a small staircase leading upstairs. They said goodbye and Jungwon asked him not to be late for class. There was no limit to his happiness. A wide smile never left his face. Now he would have his own place where he could hide away from everyone and be alone with his thoughts. No one would bother him. What else is needed for happiness?
